This thread is to answer Frequently Asked Questions about the Player Run Events (PRE) forum.

Q: What is the purpose of this forum?
A: This forum is for organizing, discussing and joining up for Player Run Events in Magic Online.

Q: Can I advertise my PREs in-game?
A: No. The Magic Online code of conduct specifically forbids this in public areas of the game, including your profile:

Do not advertise "ante" matches or player-run tournaments or events.

Q: Can I charge for entry fees, to cover expenses, time and effort?
A: I will quote from a thread with the answer:

Jabber the Wock]“ wrote:

“There is nothing preventing you from doing player run tournies in game, I believe they just ask that you don't advertise in public rooms about it. We don't want the forums to become someone's personal money making ad board. The ultimate decision comes down to the WizOs on what is allowed and isn't.”

[s]It is up to the WizO's discretion as to whether an advertised event crosses this line. We are not forbidding asking for entry fees or "donations", but keep it reasonable. At this time we have decided that entry fees are not something we want to see in the PREs in our forums.

Q: Can I offer prizes for my event?
A: Yes you can.

Q: What if I feel I have been scammed or cheated out of a prize or the Tournament Organizer absconds with my entry fee?A: Wizards of the Coast, the game and boards administrators cannot provide any support for these events. Participate/Organize at your own risk.

Q: What if I don't want to advertise my event here? I am afraid that participation will decline if my thread isn't on the main forum.
A: All threads regarding player run events not posted in this forum will be moved to this forum. We feel that it is a good way for the community to keep things organized and make it easier for potential participants to have one place to go for information.

Q: What if I need to have a thread title modified?
A: Contact a WizO with a link to the thread you would like changed. Include the old and new title and we will try to get to it as soon as possible.

Q: How should I title my threads?A: Try to make thread titles as user friendly as possible. Include the name of the event, time frame, etc. As much concise pertinent information as possible, the better.

This FAQ is far from comprehensive, we would like to hear any thoughts or comments on additions to the FAQ as well as ways to help make this forum easy to use for everyone.

Also be aware that there is an event calendar function on the boards that we are interested in attempting to use so that scheduled events can be used. Right now it is in the rough stages of planning. Let us know what you think!

Happy posting and play well!

i think that sounds like the most forward thinking idea i have ever seen a WizO have on these boards. an event calendar would ROCK!! apparently noone ever thought to say what a good idea it is, but i am not afraid to wrote:

Um...this isn't exactly a new idea, I've been reporting the various PE's on it since Febuary (though it was when Jabber first announ wrote:

We've got the Calendar Going. We need submissions from the organizers. There is a good thread discussing this, and how to go about submitting your event here: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=690746 .

Basically it entails sending an email to prereporter@gmail.com with the link to the thread you've made in this forum that corresponds to your event. There's some other details, and a link to the actual calendar in that thread.

Hey can I like post an IDEA for a tournament in here and then if enough people are willing to participate go through with it....?

I mean if the turn out isn't going to be that good I wouldn't want to waste people's time with it...

Could maybe a list of what all the abreviations mean be added to the FAQ for the new people that check this out... I have no idea what:

TPDC
DVAS
PDC
QPDC
SPDC

stand for. I am sure there are tons of other abbreviations in the actual events that I missed. But even if you open up the events the Abbreviations are still Abreviations in the threads themselves.

TIA

Oh - I always though TPDC stood for Tribal PDC

I've made slight update to the FAQ, but feel that it is far from good enough. I'd like to know what information you guys think is missing. Please respond to this thread with suggestions.

This one is not needed anymore since we can edit our own thread titles.
