Because it has been the policy of MTGO to mirror paper as much as is possible from day 1. That is simply something someone decided/said at one time.
The question that I asked was: Why? (i.e., name some reason why this should be so)
Never underestimate the power of human stupidity. R. A. Heinlein - 1907-1988.
My (now not-so) new sig. - adopted to celebrate certain events at WOTC culminating in April 2008.
Now also celebrating other idiotic events in August 2009.

It's a matter of opinion whether drawing in Premier Events is a good thing or not. There's a discussion going on in the Events forum already about this. This isn't exactly relevant to the post. I was making note of it and wondering if this was intended or they forgot/havent been able to implement drawing into PEs, not the ethics of drawing in a tournament and "altering the outcome" or how mtgo is supposed to be as much like paper as possible.
Judging by the posts it seems that this was left out on accident or was a ninja "fix" to PEs. Anyone here able to correct/confirm my statements?

Judging by the posts it seems that this was left out on accident or was a ninja "fix" to PEs. Anyone here able to correct/confirm my statements? I was in one of the Momir PE's. I went 3-0 and was unable to draw into t8. I lost the next two rounds. Lucky for me, my TBs were good enough to get me into t8 anyway.
That said, there's another issue that people do have to worry about.
If you briefly lose your internet connection, v3 will give you no indication that you've disconnected from their server unless you actually try to *do* something (at which point you'll be booted from MTGO, and you can log right back in normally). So if you're sitting there, for example, doing nothing but waiting for the next round to begin, and your connection to the internet hiccups for whatever reason, you could very well be disconnected from MTGO without even knowing it. The screen will still look like you're online and waiting for the next round, so unless you actually try to do something, you won't even realize there's a problem. You'll lose the first game by timeout, which automatically drops you from the event you're in.
I had this happen to me twice over the weekend. I was having connectivity problems on my end, and was dropped from the t8 of the Momir PE and a draft about a day later under these circumstances.
I've turned in bug reports on this and refuse to join any PEs until these two issues are fixed.

I believe that WotC seriously considered eliminating draws some time ago. Something that, at the time, they knew they would have to wait until V3 to implement.
With paper Magic, you can't really do much about draws. You can eliminate the for online Magic.

In one draft it auto-picked my third booster for me (and did a good job, I made to the third round).
When I am playing for prizes, I log into two accounts. Whenever I think that I might be disconnected, I verify that one can chat to the other.

This statement has been repeated many times by many people. Can you provide a reference from an official WotC employee to confirm this? I'm not going to go and dig up statements made six years ago to cite things that most people already know are true, but their rationale for charging $3.99 per pack for virtual cards is partially based on the fact that they want online and paper magic to be mirrored as closely as possible.

4. Don't speak dumb, or you'll be struck dumb.
Remember, the name of the game is heads I win, tails you lose.

So what are the matches called where there's no winner after extra turns are over? Either they do what they do at GPTs, sudden death 1st loss of life loses, or they eliminated the stupid 5 turn rule and let matches play out.
Of course, my statement was regarding intentional draws as is this whole thread.
