Ive played magic for years mtgo for 6 months. Shuffler has been a disapointment. Myself and a group of us know longer draft or purchase ANY magic [roduct now. The local store has not had enough people for a sanctioned draft in weeks. Fix shuffler and we will be back simple as that. Its the opposite as Mirrodin block, wizards destroyed a deck that wasnt winning just to get people back playing. Here they have an issue they can fix easily that is a real issue. Its up to them whether they want to let stores close or not.
What on earth are you talking about?? What does shuffling have to do with stores closing? *confuseled*
the fact that 80% of the local customer base has stopped playing the game is where store closure comes in. I am still friends with the owners of the local store and their turnout hs dropped by 80% since myself (and my suppotive friends) stopped using any WOC product. Hell its been 2 months since I even cared enough to look at the forum to answer your question.

80% eh. Empirically determined and not at all subjective.

Since no one has done out the test statistic for the starting hands, it works out to be 1.01 over 816 samples.

That would be the easiest way to ensure it was random.

Where is the data from a time the shuffler has been tested? I'd like to look at that data.
I've noticed personally in drafts with 40 card decks running 17 land if you keep a 5 land hand I draw a land turn 1. It happens to me far far more often then 12 out of 33 times, it happens nearly every single time.
It could just be bad luck, but I'd very much like to see the shuffler testing data to calm myself. The ORC in MTGO pointed me to this thread, but I don't see any data in this thread. Where can I get access to it?

When I tested this issue myself I found that I drew a land as the first draw 48 out of 100 times after keeping a hand of 5 lands, 2 spells in a 17 land, 23 spell deck. I tried testing this again and so far I've drawn more lands as first draws than spells. This issue cannot however, be reproduced in the Solitare room.
So, getting back to your observations, it is unlikely that it is really happening nearly every single time, but quite possible it is happening more often than not, which is far more often than the expected 12 out of 33 times.

I think this picture makes a compelling arguement against the "Mana Short is helpful for Recruting New Players" Meme. Yeah, he didn't even finish out the tournament.
