Does anyone else find this program really unexciting?

You get a few random lands + commons for doing stuff you already did. If you're really rich, you get slightly better cards.

I find it unexciting because they only change the lands every 3 months and it's not possible for any individual to get more than 1 land each month. When Wizards was using Arena league to distribute promo lands, they were given out each time players reached a certain number of participation points -- play and win enough matches in a given Arena session, and you could get 2 or 3 lands in that single night.

Even if every account gets one, the fact every account will only get one each month and that they will need to be collated for resale by a third party will drive the price up, too.

Actually, your "fact" is a wee bit off.

It is possible for an account to get 2 basic lands.

Once you hit Tier 9, you'll start accumulating points for extra promos starting at Tier 1. Point 1280 gets you a foil Damnation, while point 1285 gives you another random non-foil basic land in addition to what you've already earned (and point 1290 gets you another random foil basic land, point 1305 gets you a Woolly Thoctar, etc., etc.).

So literally, it's not impossible for an account to get 2 land per month. Realistically, though,...

As a quick side note, I think now we know how WotC is going to increase the number of FoWs online

Here comes another ham-nositication: There are going to be upcoming, very large, tournaments. Because right now, there are only a handful of tournaments that would net you those 'big point' jumps, and most of those are invite only.

Agreed - this seems ridiculous to me as a European player. Why can't it work the same as prize eligibility where you check 'Yes I am eligible for prizes'. Limiting it to US residents seems bizarre to me.

I can't understand what 'midnight_dancer' means. The T+Cs for this promo explicitly state 'You must be a US resident', not 'you must be eligible under your local laws to participate in such promotions'. How can we cheat on where we are resident? If we buy from the Store we use a Credit Card and I have to enter my mailing address... and if I enter a fake mailing address in the states my credit card provider gets mad and phones me to say someone is trying to make fraudulent purchases....

Are we being expected to click 'Yes I am a US resident', when they have our mailing address on file already, and hope that they don't notice and we lose our accounts?

As a contrast, the prize eligibility T+Cs states:

2.1b Eligibility (Non-U.S.).
You are subject to all laws of the state, province, and/or country in which you reside and from which you access the Site, and you are solely responsible for obeying those laws. You agree the Site cannot be held liable if laws applicable to you restrict or prohibit your participation. The Site makes no representations or warranties, implicit or explicit, as to your legal right to participate in any tournament offered on the Site, nor shall any person affiliated with or claiming affiliation with the Site have authority to make any such representations or warranties.
Wizards may require any participant receiving any prize to provide proof that he or she is eligible to participate according to Sections 2.1a and 2.1b. You remain solely responsible for paying all federal and other taxes in accordance with the laws that apply in your state, province, and/or country of residence.

So Non U.S. players are perfectly eligible if their local laws permit them to win prizes. This is completely different from the Player Rewards program T+Cs which doesn't mention Non U.S. players at all.

I dont think that the prize structure will come crashing down if someone clarifies this...someone with authority simply has to say "it's correct as written" or "whoops, it should read like the general prize clause".

ATTENTION NON-US PLAYERS. Read the following carefully:

For various legal reasons, WotC cannot give rewards to those who are not eligible. It will know if you are eligible, because you will tell them, and supply them with an email address.

This email address will, of course, easily identify you as coming from a particular country, as there is no such thing as Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail which are international.

When you tell WotC whether you are eligible, you will be totally honest, and not accidentally click the wrong button. Even though it is very easy to do.

WotC will then give rewards to everyone who has told them that they are eligible, because, hey, what else can they do? Only eligible people will sign up.

Got it yet?

I don't even think they're going to go that far. There will probably be a box that says "Have you read and agree to the terms of the Rewards Program? Yes // No". And that will be it.

To all of the non-US people complaining: stop being outraged. Yes, it sucks that you "can't" participate, but do you really think WotC *wants* to exclude you? This is clearly because legal couldn't figure out a way to do this internationally. The limitations of international law are hardly WotC's fault.

I'll save you the suspense: it is correct as written. The only reason this program wasn't available MONTHS ago was because of all of the changes they had to make to satisfy legal. Both the terms and Mike's announcement have been reviewed in excruciating detail by legal. The only thing pointing out the discrepancy will do is having the prize conditions reviewed and possibly changed to match.

All due respect Bubba, I realize that you are the flak on the boards, but WotC manage to sell and distribute their wares to countries all over the world, not to mention handing out rewards for daily events and bonus cards with release events and the textless Terrors that were distributed to all who logged in for certain dates...so I realy dont think your comment holds water....but keep on keeping on, you do a corking job keeping the place tidy. We would just like WotC to confirm or deny the wording of the clause.
