So any word on when foils are going to be fixed?
Why is it so hard to add a few overlays?
"They were civilized they even drank their blood from a cup"→James Silke/Frank Frazzeta "When the Cryptkeeper sticks 'em they tend to stay stuck"→Cryptkeeper "Do not blame the current developers if there is something you don't like about Magic Online. Chances are no one asked the developers for their opinion."→elf "They just look at me like I'm stupid and then I just say something like well you know WOTC does some dumb things sometimes."→wilmheath "Like just about everything I've experienced with MTGO and the Magic WotC website, I'm finding it difficult to..."→0rbit "the more general question is: at what point does an easily fixable interface issue become a defect?"→silentbobus "Imagine, only four years later and I almost have as much functionality as I used to."→Algona "WotC, you make an awesome game, why do you have to suck so bad at letting people have a fun time?"→MTGKaioshin "If you are all about playing as many games as possible as fast as possible and you KNOW you have me beat, then concede and move on"→Johnh2005 "Wow. You're a real pleasure to help. Good luck figuring it out by yourself."→tempesteye "2hg brokest of the broke"→Me, Myself & I "It's you against the shuffler."→jwark "this look like freeware that some kid down the street crafted up"→ProtossX "ask them if the world came to an economic end tomorrow, whether they think little printed pieces of paper could be traded for actual goods or services"→dangerlinto Server status→ http://www.wizards.com/magic/magiconlineserverstatus.asp

/me seconds that vote
Point is foils stink and a new overlay is needed for the older "classic" style foils that had a star logo in v2½ AND the PAPER release.
I consider the star (as shown in your company logo and next to the name of each foil in my deck editor) "artwork" and just cause it is digital does not mean that they should alter this aspect as I bought it for that "artwork" and paid considerably more tickets for the star version versus the 8th and up releases of same card. *snip*
I Honestly would be more satisfied with High Res Scans of Physical Cards. (just print and burn the older ones ) Seeing cretonic1's comparison, I miss the crisp looking foils. The overlay appears to be the same, only muddied. Also, the foil starburst should make a comeback. It's important to older foil images.

So here I am once again asking you WOTC what is going on with our foils? Can you include the swoosh via additional overlays (on a block by block basis)? Can the current code on older sets be edited to add it before the overlay is applied maybe? As a community we deserve a response. As a collector I deserve a response. Please.
By WOTC in this post I mean Mike as you are the current rep and claim that you will post answers in their respective threads.
(Yes this has been a test of the cretonic Palidin Alignment Shift system I repeat this is a test):P

While really I appreciate the fact that you replied, I very strongly support cretonic's continued nagging. Many of us have spent thousands of dollars on foils, which now look much crappier than they used to. That's a pretty bad thing to do to some of your biggest spending customers.

While I liked the foil star 'swoosh', I am also content with existing foils, and tend to seek out cards that look good using the new foil system. Simply adding the swoosh to old-frame cards may be all that's necessary.
I do not believe 'nagging' about the change, insulting Wizards about it, or constantly bringing it up in unrelated topics is the best direction to cause a change, however.

I'm sad, this hurts WOTC I really had a small amount of faith that one day it would be fixed.
Thank-you for the answer I regret that I had to resort to eight months of continual nagging and venting in these forums to get it.
This may very well be my last post as I truly now have lost all faith in WOTC. This is a collectable card game after all and I and many others paid some exhorbit prices for those older foils.
So see you all online somedays.
Moral of the story:
If you want a "collectable" for its artwork buy paper as online digital objects are always subject to change at WOTC descretion.
Strange how I bought those foils online thinking "great these won't rub off" LOL what a joke WOTC shame I was the april fool. I WAS your customer.
How 'bout those who spent years looking for foils that looked good in v2? Yeah we can take another chance and start doing this for v3 course I could lay down in the interstate as well.

To my knowledge, there are no current plans in place to change the look of the foils. If I am wrong about this, I'll post an update, but we are aware of your posts and e-mails concerning the issue. Good foils are really hard to obtain and it takes weeks or even months to find a certain card at the current state of economy. Although i guess it hasnt been a lot different with V2.
Getting your precious collection neutered and then after 8 months such a slap in the face. This is actually a nice inside view how WotC are (not) aware of their customer's mood. And they dont even give a damn about it, just the same fibbing as usual.
Attention!!!!
As demonstrated, it is so easy to make significant improvements to the current foil effect. Someone experienced with Photoshop or anything similar could achieve a tremendous boost to the static and/or moving foil overlays in just 2-3 hours maybe.
Ohh WotC you really make me worry!

So it appears I wasn't completely correct about the foils. I now return to my previous "I don't really know what's going on" position. Nothing to see here, move along. I was trying to at least give you guys something of an answer. Sorry about that

I appreciate the answer really even though it was no.
That really is all I want (k so I really want em fixed but) A simple yes, no, or we will try but can't make promises.
Just saying its passed along gives one the impression that words fall on deaf ears. Saying "we acknowledge this offends alot of collectors and are hopefully going to fix it someday" would at least let us out of the dark closet so we know to hold or sell them.
I really am sorry this has blown so many tempers and grated so many nerves but thankyou for at least coming into the post as a company representive.
In all honesty had you spent $97 extra dollars on a different version of a card to see the main reason for buying removed would you not be upset and taking every possible recourse to fix.
I know there are lots of issues at current but an answer was not so much to ask in my opinion.
Once again Ty for at least responding so we know that as a WHOLE we have been heard and some glimmer of hope may yet exist. It was nice of WotC to try and make these shimmering foils and many people do like them were they more of a prism I may as well but overlays and static shines aside its the Star/swoosh/comet logo that I miss. It stood for MTG, it stood for foil, it stood for my version is the original bomb diggity dog and I paid extra to have that streak on it.
