I'm not 100% certain... but that may be the first documented case of Hazezon Tamar being useful for anything.

O.O

Nice game, by the way!

The format naturally lends itself to stories: ever-changing decks, multiple players, and a handy alias to identify protagonists without putting their names on the boards. :D

An amazing Commander game just ended. Thanks to the other players for allowing me to post their names on the boards. Commanders/turn order:

AJ_Impy with Sol'kanar the Swamp King
RoachE with Sol'kanar the Swamp King
OmniBios with Sygg, River Cuthroat
Lee_Sharpe (me) with Godo, Bandit Warlord

I start off with Jaya Ballard, Taskmage while RoachE helps accelerate the game with Seizan, Preverter of Truth . RoachE plays out his commander, equips it with Lightning Greaves , and has it and Seizan begin hacking away at OmniBios' life total.

In the meantime, I build up Jaya with Sword of Fire and Ice and Fireshrieker , which is handy as AJ_Impy decides it's time to Inferno but the damage from a red source doesn't affect Jaya due to the Sword!

When the turn comes back around to me again, I play Quietus Spike and make it Jaya's third equipment. As I've said before, it's important in this situation to attack AJ_Impy. He tries to dissuade me by threatening to blow up my board, but I'm not going to pass the opportunity to bring him from 32 to 3, and do so. True to his word, AJ_Impy Void s me for 3, not only destorying Jaya and all of the equipment on it, but forcing me to discard a couple cards as well.

RoachE recovers from the Inferno by replaying his commander, getting Lightning Greaves back on it, and sending Omnibus down to 12. OmniBios plays Mignight Banshee which he hopes to combo with a Crumbling Ashes he played earlier.

Now we get into the "building" phase of the game after some early action. I bring out my commander, and use his ability to fetch Loxodon Warhammer , while AJ_Impy Knowledge Exploitation s his way into OmniBios' Temporal Manipulation and winds up with a Scourge of Kher Ridges for his troubles. RoachE now seems to be afraid of Godo after I chunked a big whole in AJ_Impy's life total and gets rid of Godo before it can do too much, but he's still going after OmniBios with Sol'Kanar. OmniBios returns the favor with Midnight Banshee (which also put a counter on AJ_Impy's Scourge of the Kher Ridges), but OmniBios is down to 7 while Roach is still at 26.

I decide to get Homura, Human Ascendant out as its my only creature and I need something to block, but AJ_Impy fits it into his plan by killing it with the Scourge, which brings it back flipped under my control, but this fits right into AJ's plan to Take Possession it.

RoachE plays Mana Flare and there was much rejoicing. And Sol'Kanar yet again hits OmniBios and bring him down to 2. The Crumbling Ashes combo finally pairs of for OmniBios, as it kills AJ_Impy's Scourge, but not before he activates it enough times to wipe the board.

Life totals are now AJ_Impy = 3, RoachE = 19, OmniBios = 1 (Mana Flare forces mana burn), and I'm at 25. I try to take out AJ_Impy and OmniBios (and his shiny new Herald of Leshrac ) with a Gratuitious Violence and Bloodfire Colossus combo (Thanks, Mana Flare!), figuring AJ_Impy has only one mana open so I'm good. But, no, AJ has the Hyrdoblast for the Colossus.

AJ decides to finish off OmniBios finally with an Incendiary Command , but OmniBios takes it quite well and sticks around to finish watching the game. Also, a Promise of Power gives AJ_Impy a 3/3 flying Demon.

RoachE brings in his own Demon via his own Promise of Power , but his is entwined and produces a 10/10 Demon. However, he equips it with Graves and forgets he needed to play his Sword of Fire and Ice and equip it first before the shroud from the Greaves stops him. Still, it's not all bad (unless you're me), as I'm getting hit and fall to 14. His Sword is still getting some use, as he equips it to a brand new Tombstalker .

I decide I need life here, so I summon Godo and equip it up with my own Graves as well as my Warhammer. AJ_Impy promises to kill the Tombstalker if I don't attack him, so I attack RoachE instead figuring he probably won't block. Alas, I forgot that the sword means he gets to kill my Godo for free. Without any life gain by me or damage through to him. Whooooops.

Forced to pass the turn, I'm glad AJ has to make good on his word and he keeps it by using Duplicant . Then AJ's flying Demon gets pumped (courtesy of the Homura's Essence I own) and sent in to finish off RoachE.

And then there were two...

Again feeling like I need life, I get Stigma Lasher , double equip, and trade with Duplicant but get 10 life out of the deal, putting me at 23. Unfortunately, no RoachE means no more Mana Flare, which is hurting me pretty badly.

AJ gets his own commander (finally!) inot the mix and hits me with a large pumped flying Demon to bring me to 14.

Topdeck.... Platinum Angel !

I tap out to play it and equip it with Graves for the shroud, and not so much for the haste (I prefer it lives). AJ appears unconcerned, and plays Myojin of Night's Reach and attacks me down to 7. During my draw step, I hit the 8th land I've been waiting for, but he sets off Myojin before my main phase, so no hand for me.

I have to pass the turn, and then AJ attacks me yet again with Sol'kanar, bringing me to 0, but Platinum Angel keeps me alive. RoachE watching asks if Platinum Angel will save me from 21 commander damage, and I reply that it will as long as I control it, but as soon as it's gone I die, he doesn't have to hit me with even more commander damage. AJ passes the turn.

Topdeck.... Word of Seizing !

I know, I'm the luckiest. I grab the Myojin and attack with it and the Platinum Angel, leaving him with only the Demon to block, and will kill him. He chooses to channel the next duel decks by blocking my Angel with his Demon! His Demon can still pump and deal lethal to the Angel, I'm at 0, and he's below me!

Thanks to all SBEs benig checked at once, this means that I win since the SBE for me losing can't yet be applied, unlike the one causing AJ and the Platinum Angel to die. I would have died at the next SBE check, but the game didn't last quite that long. Victory!

Great game all around and I had a blast. Thanks!

He's not wrong: this was one of the good ones.

Yes, I did spend most of the game at 3 life, with a number of players fully cognisant with Rule Zero, one of whom had another Inferno in his own hand right up until the point I took him out of the game when he was tapped out.

Consider it a mercy killing. Homura can't block. :D

And yes, I did take a point of burn from the mana flare. Technically, I had 2 mana open.

This token, which accounted for one player and later traded with the platinum angel , was a 1/1 pumped up by the stolen Homura's Essence. Never underestimate the value of an embarrasingly small flying demon.

Aided and abetted by a Searing Wind to the face. Quoth RoachE: "I should've killed you when I had the chance. I had the Inferno in hand." Remember kids: Always means always! Don't think I can't steal the game away from you just because I'm at 3 life and you have an instant speed burn spell handy! Rule Zero: It's for your own protection.

Actually, that raises an interesting point. 'You can't lose the game and your opponents can't win the game' doesn't technically preclude a draw. The client didn't differentiate the order of state-based effects, it resolved them coterminously and called it a draw. This may be an error of the client, but if the margin of victory is so narrow that even your own program can't call it a win, that makes for one hell of a comeback from spending most of the game in Bolt range.

What's with that product placement without any clues to who the stars of that product are?

It's a fair bet that there will be Demons and there will be Angels. That game ended with a demon and angel killing each other in such a way that the client thought it was a draw: The product placement thus gets to hint at the game-shaking powers of these two tribes without saying much about the contents (Although if you ask me, Promise of Power is a fantastically demonic card, and almost as much a shoe-in as Ol' Purplehair McIconicpants herself.)

Just don't mention that the demon token in question was 1/1. It'd get mocked by imps and devils, and no demon deserves that.
