Folks,
We are going to try something new:
The "Fast Draft” Queue
This will not replace any other draft queue for now. We are going to test it to see how it goes. Your feedback in this thread will be much appreciated.
The "Fast Draft" queue will be a TPF 8-4 queue: - The draft time limit speed (the speed at which you select cards) will be set to "fast". It really is FAST. If you don't know all the cards by picture alone, I would beware! - The time per round will be set to 50 minutes (each player will have a 25 minute clock). - changed from 40 to 50 minutes on Friday 6/22 - Deck Building will be 5 minutes (instead of 10). - changed on Friday 6/22 - Added a TSP-PLC-FUT 4-3-2-2 Fast Queue - added on Friday 6/22
We'll see how it goes.
Thanks,

If this is at all similar to the fast drafts seen in the Beta, I'm all for it. Not much is more annoying than sitting forever waiting for someone to take the maximum time allowed on every single pick. I'm less sure about the 40 minute clock. Chopping 10 minutes off the clock in a format that includes Sprout Swarm is probably going to cause several people to lose because of time despite their playing as fast as they can. But I'm definitely all for the fast clock during the draft portion.

Post your feedback here.

What are the exact timings for draft picks? To me the fast draft on beta is a little too fast for anything with money riding on it.
Kudos for attempting new things, Scott.

Yeah, as natedawg pointed out, there is the money facet. Fast drafts for beta are splendid, because there is no money on the line. But, I'm a little leery to do a fast draft on live.
NOOOOOOO!!! My sig, she has vanished!!!

Awesome! Now I don't have to worry that my $12 will even take up half an hour of my time.

The time limits would definitely suit me better, but I just don't understand how you can split an 8-4 queue. It often takes them a while to fire as is... though they have been better recently for some reason.
I hate how none of the marginal options ever fire. Getting a MiMiVi draft takes a miracle! What if there was only 8-4TPF, 4-3-2-2 999, and 8-4 [Rotating slot-- few days a week RGD, MMV day, CSP day]... If there were fewer options maybe some of the more marginal ones would get more attention...
Just an idea... and admittedly from someone who only plays 8-4 TSP...

The "Fast Draft" queue will be a TPF 8-4 queue: - The draft time limit speed (the speed at which you select cards) will be set to "fast". - The time per round will be set to 40 minutes (each player will have a 20 minute clock).
We'll see how it goes.
Thanks, I haven't drafted in years - and with this FastDraft new idea being tested - I'll try it atleast once.
Thank you for breathing fresh air into MTGO (just a little).

Just did one. Had a great deck, but the shuffler hates me. Half the deck and only 1 of my many removal spells? Gee, I wonder why I lost. The deck construction phase should be shortened to 6 minutes. 10 minutes is way more time than is necessary for Draft. This probably needs to be a 4-3-2-2 queue to fire regularly.
