I really enjoy the sealed deck style of play as opposed to playing against people with many-thousand card collections. Whats the best way to sell off cards to keep entering leagues for as cheaply as possible?
The trading message boards in the client seem a bit sketchy and pays only in tickets. Thats fine but then how do you convert tickets into money for boosters?
Is there a good website (besides ebay with its high fees) to sell cards on?
Anybody who has experience selling off league cards I'd love to hear how you do it. Thanks!

Tickets are probably the easiest way. You can trade tickets for boosters with lots of people.

Just wanted to note really quickly, btw--you can't sell cards you get from your league pool until the league officially ends.
So, if you're talking about selling cards you've got from a Morningtide release league, you'll have to wait several more days.

Thanks for the info
For those of you that do the same thing, what kind of return to you usually end up getting once you get rid of your league cards? Add the money from selling the cards to the booster prizes and I'd think it would be possible to play pretty cheaply.
I wouldn't mind setting up a deal with someone to sell them all my cards from each league at a set price (is this sort of thing done at all?). They could get whatever profit they could out of them and I wouldn't have to spend the time to trade/sell individually.

Generally you won;t get too much back out of your league cards.
In Magic online most cards are worth nothing. Most rares are worth next to nothing. Some rares are worth 1-2 tix (or $1-$2) and a FEW rares are worth more. So unless you get really lucky and pull a big money rare, you won;t get back more than a handfull of tix.
Try to get good at the game. If you can score 8 or 9 points in a release week you get some nice prices. if you get 10 points once in a while you can get a lot

Unfortunately, there is not a good way to turn your opened cards into unopened product. You have to understand that there are a TON of packs that get opened on MTGO for limited events, dumping loads of cards into the the secondary market. Thus, outside of a few select "money" rares in each set, your cards are next to worthless for purposes of selling them.
The best way to be able to play in the next event at a minimal cost to you, is to become quite good at the game. The prizes awarded to the Top 8 in each league receive prizes equal to or better than the product they had to use to participate in the league. These prizes double if it is a 2x league (such as the ones that are currently running).
Outside of winning good prizes, just set all your cards to tradable after each league ends, and open trade with a bot and see what they offer you for your rares/foils. It's fast, and usually fair. You'll become familiar with the bots that pay the best prices for your cards on average, so you can go back to them time and time again.

Great information, thanks guys.
You mentioned that the prices for online cards are very low compared to regular cards. Isn't there a way to convert your online cards into real cards and have them shipped to you? (I looked around, saw the "redeem" button, but couldn't figure out how it worked). Maybe you could do that, then sell them?

You can indeed redeem cards, but it can only be done in full sets (either a set of non-foil, or a set of foil). So that tends to limit how often you can take advantage of that program. On top of that, I think they hit you with about $25-$30 USD for a shipping/processing fee each time you redeem.

A good idea is to play leagues early in a set's release (like the Morningtide leagues now), because the prices of some of the rares (and occasionally even uncommons, seemingly) can be insanely high soon after a set is available.
If you happen to be lucky enough to pull a good rare in a new set's league, I'd suggest getting to the auction room as soon as that card is available for trade, and trying to sell it (but use a minimum, so you don't wind up unlucky and lose it for half of what it's usually going for at the time).

Thanks for the information guys. I got about a 33% return...ie playing 3 leagues will give me almost enough value in tix/booster prizes to pay for the 4th. If I had gotten better placing I could see it being much better, but there's some tough competition and I did badly.
I think I may just get some commons playsets and play the player-run pauper tournies instead. Thanks for pointing me in that direction.
PS - I ended up using the /join auction room after taking some time to research current prices. Hopefully this thread will help other new players learn about liquidating/selling too.
