So, everybody is cool with white taking on red and green keywords now?
I am in the confines of attacking and blocking creatures. White loves (1) combat and (2) messing with attacks. That it does it in the realm of fighting doesn't make much difference. It's like asking it white should get direct damage to attacking creatures.

So... this (non-entry) makes sense? Spoiler:

Only in a Kung Fu themed set (five finger death punch, anybody?).

I could see it working, but I also think it has an entirely different feel. Fight as a mechanic deals with forced clashes. White doesn't pick fights necessarily that often (which is one reason the mechanic is red/green), but it'll fight harder than any color to defend itself. But deathtouch is just a word for "poisonous/venomous", but with a broader spectrum. It's a natural thing to green and black's nature, not white. That's the difference, really.

OHMYGOSHIWONAGAIN sortofYAAAAAAAAAAAAY I can't vote for Heroic Stand because it doesn't work. A fight is between either one or two creatures. To work it either needs to use Alpha Brawl template or fight each creature in sequence.

Hunh. I wonder why they didn't just use fight on alpha brawl. The rules are well within bounds to deal with it; if a creature fights every other creature, it has the same effect as alpha brawl. I suppose it might be difficult to understand otherwise, but the way the rules are written, it should work fine as a succession of individual fights.

I dunno, but a Fight is defined as two or one creatures, damage dealt simultaneously. Alpha Brawl does not do this, ergo, it is not a fight.

My approach in YMtC with cards that would require small obvious expansions to the rules is to assume those changes would happen as the card is printed. This means I have no problem with Heroic Stand (because fighting multiple creatures is a easy fix) but I do with the Ooze (since countering permanents without being able to target them seems either useless or would require a non-obvious change to the rules).

Probably because they wanted the damage to be sequential rather than simultaneous, and didn't want to muddy the rules for fight.
And so people say to me, "How do I know if a word is real?" You know, anyone who's read a children's book knows that love makes things real. If you love a word, use it! That makes it real. Being in the dictionary is an artificial distinction; it doesn't make the word any more real than any other word. If you love a word, it becomes real. --Erin McKean, Redefining the Dictionary

There is some ambiguity in the damage procedure that would need to be fixed. You could read Heroic Stand as dealing damage equal to its power and dividing it among the other creatures, or read it as getting into individual fights with each of those creatures. I suppose that's enough confusion to make the long version of Alpha Brawl worthwhile. But that's the only real barrier I see. The rules are only clarifying that creatures fight one-on-one, not that they can't pick multiple fights at once.

Ya, I missed the whole targeting step altogheter when I made it. Something about posting fast in the ABC thread.
