What is bloodrush, exactly? My best guess is an activated ability of a card which works from your hand. We were trying to decide if it was counterable (by a cancel ) and went with no.

it is an activated ability

it's a bit unusual because most activated abilities are on permanents, but as you can see they can also be on cards in your hand (the strangest is still on a spell )

Blood rush is an activated ability, you can identify it as such because it's written in the [cost]:[effect] format.  The colon is important.

So on, you can't counter bloodrush using Cancel . Try Stifle or Voidslime instead.




There are many similar activated abilities you can only activate from hand: Faerie Macabre 's, cycling and its variants , channel , transmute ...
