Imposter Syndrome Instant UTarget creature's controller returns that creature to its owner's hand and replaces it with a 1/1 white Citizen creature token. (The token is treated as the same game object as the original creature and does not trigger any "enters the battlefield" abilities.)Jarkaled looked in the mirror, and all he saw was a stranger wearing his skin.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Does this need more reminder text? I feel like there's probably some sort of extremely convoluted situation somebody can concoct that would make resolving this card ambiguous and confusing, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

I don't know if it's possible for something to get onto the battlefield without "entering the battlefield"? I would just add a phrase from torpor orb and avoid much confusion

Return target creature to its owner's hand. Its controller puts a 1/1 white Citizen token onto the battlefield. ?

The way to do exactly what his card does now would be Return target creature to its owner's hand. That creature's controller puts a token that's a copy of that creature onto the battlefield, except it's a 1/1 white Citizen. The token entering the battlefield doesn't cause abilities to trigger. except he's trying to pull some illusionary mask shenanigans with "replace"

No, the creature Becomes the token right? That's the intent of the original card, in my interpretation. So, if someone wants to Murder your Crows , just make them into a little man for a minute - perhaps constructed from old clothes and straw, and then bring the Crows back when he dies.
What a shame, I thought your previous one was fantastic.

This was the original intent of the card. Any spells that target the original creature should still target the token, and the token keeps all auras/equipment/counters and the same state (tapped/untapped/attacking/blocking/etc.)
I have no good way of wording it though.

Oh jeez. I would probably just have the creature become a 1/1 white citizen and have the controller draw a card...
You could have them search their library for a creature card with the same name...?

But this way is cooler.

I know, but I don't think you can have a real card become a token object. That's like, defying reality.

all we have to do is define the word "replace". it is not currently part of any oracle wording, so you can do whatever you want with it. if you want to define it as "it becomes the same game object" you can totally do that. just make sure to never put it on a card that isn't guranteed to remove the original object, because I don't want to deal with the implications of two objects sharing an identity.
120.6. Some effects replace card draws.
