So, as I'm looking through my ol' vampire deck, I so happened to have a Corpsejack Menace sitting on my desk next to me. Seeing the boon it gives for counters, and the amount of the Innistrad block vampires that get counters, the cogs started to tick... And then I had a Ghor-Clan Rampager come out of nowhere and nearly trampled its way into my deck, thus, the Gruulgari Vampires were born... Original deck before revisions: Spoiler:

Revision 3: Creatures: 22 4x Markov Blademaster 4x Stromkirk Noble 4x Corpsejack Menace 4x Ghor-Clan Rampager 2x Falkenrath Marauders 2x Falkenrath Exterminator 2x Stromkirk Captain Spells: 16 4x Farseek 4x Rancor 4x Searing Spear 2x Dreadbore 2x Abrupt Decay Land: 22 2x Kessig Wolf Run 4x Stomping Ground 4x Blood Crypt 4x Rootbound Crag 4x Dragonskull Summit 2x Mountain 1x Forest 1x Swamp Sideboard: 4x Gruul Charm 4x Golgari Charm 4x Blessings of Nature or Increasing Savagery 2x Curse of Stalked Prey 1x Falkenrath Marauders So, its slow, I know. Needs tweaking, I know. Needs some ramping I'm sure. But that's why you're here! :P In all honesty, I've only just thought it up in my head, I have no idea how viable it is exactly, I haven't even gotten around to assembling the cards in the deck yet... Not to mention thinking up a decent sideboard yet >.> Some other card ideas I had could include Rubblebelt Raiders , Wrecking Ogre , Mizzium Mortars , Clan Defiance , etc. Maybe that could be my sideboard... >.< Have fun ^_^

A clever idea, but it could use some refining. Searing Spear can help buy some time, or take off that last chunk of life. And Stromkirk Noble is begging to be in this deck.

I completely agree with Searing Spear and Stromkirk Noble . If your looking for more ramp then I'd just say add in 4 Farseek cause it looks like you don't already have any important T2 drops. This deck also looks like it's leaning more midragne then aggro at the moment. Especially now with the need of ramp. So I would try and mainboard atleast 2 Dreadbore and possible sideboard 2 Abrupt Decay . ANd honestly with all the +1 counters being thrown around already, the Bloodrush seems kinda useless to me right now. I'd try dropping the Ghor-Clan and adding in something like 2 Falkenrath Aristocrat and maybe 1 more of both Increasing Savagery and Blessings of Nature.

What about replacing Ghor-Clan Rampager with Crowned Ceratok ? With all the counters you're getting for your vampires, everything is getting trample that way. I'm a little worried about Falkenrath Aristocrat , though. Without humans, it loses some of its appeal.

Thanks for the ideas guys! I really loved the idea to swap the Rampager for the Ceratok, and I took a good deal of waterbury's thoughts on board too So, here we go, revision 1: Replaced Ghor-Clan Rampager s with Crowned Ceratok s Removed Falkenrath Exterminator , added in Stromkirk Noble Moved 2x Rancor to sideboard (Hmmm, not sure about that move) Moved 4x Gruul Charm to Sideboard (Really?) Added 2x Dreadbore and Abrupt Decay Removed 2x Curse of Stalked Prey , replaced by 1x Increasing Savagery and Blessings of Nature Added in 4x Farseek Moved Kessig Wolf Run to Sideboard (Again, not too sure...) Added Sideboard There was some tough decisions in there, especially the Rancors and Gruul Charms. I'm still debating over the Rancors... Any thoughts on what I could have done better?

Please do not cut Rampager for Crowned Ceratok. Adding two more Rancor is a great idea, as is goint to two on Falkenrath Marauders, cutting the Blessings of Nature, Increasing Savagery, and Curse. Searing Spear, and more removal in general, is a very good idea. The M10 Duals will help your mana. Remember, you need early red, and then double red late, with access to your other two colors.

Now its starting to resemble a playable deck... After thinking about what Pepperjack said, I re-thought the playstyle, and yes, the Rampagers are a better fit than the Ceratoks. Creatures are going to have trample anyway with the Rancors, and just in case, +4/+4 and trample for RG is not bad at all... Revision 2: Replaced Crowned Ceratok s with Ghor-Clan Rampager s (again :P ) Removed 1 each of Increasing Savagery and Blessings of Nature , returned the 2 Rancor s to the main deck Swapped the Searing Spear s and Abrupt Decay s from main deck and sideboard Added another 2 Searing Spear s to the sideboard Best case scenario A potential 14 damage from the Blademaster on turn 4, and in case they've not been able to put out a blocker or play removal, and the Noble has been picking at them, that's win on turn 4...

You still want more removal if you intend for your creatures to connect with the opponent at all. I know that the counter-adding cards feel BIG, but I'd rather just kill my opponent's dudes outright in virtually every scenario. Your guys will get hyojj on their own, if they can connect. If you want to keep one of those effects in, use Curse. You also want to lower your curve. If not, you will probably die before you get going. Cut two of the Marauders. Blademaster is the same thing, but better anyways. Find some two drops- even Bloodcrazed Neonate might stand half a chance here, if only for being a warm body that can get out of hand. Again, more removal would be a good thing here. Removal! (Psst. Move the Searing Spear and the Decay to the MB. Put the KWRs in the main as well. If you're worried about color screw, go to two and add M10 duals.)

Hmmm, you do raise a good point. Although perhaps Falkenrath Exterminator may be a better choice over Bloodcrazed Neonate . They both get the counters for damage to a player, but at the cost of 1 power, they have the chance to block and can ping off creatures depening on their size... Might keep a few Blessings or Savagery's around to pump them up in case they need the extra counters for more damage... The Blessings are super tempting for their miracle cost, but it may no work out that I need to cast them when I do draw it. The Savagery is pure hard cast, cheaper and more counters, but with flashback I might have some discard bait. But that miracle keeps staring at me in the face... GAH! Okay, revision 3: Removed 2x Falkenrath Marauders , replaced with 2x Falkenrath Exterminator Removed the Blessings of Nature and Increasing Savagery , put the Searing Spear s and Abrupt Decay s to main Either 4x Blessings of Nature or Increasing Savagery in sideboard, not sure which... Swapped Curse of Stalked Prey with Kessig Wolf Run Polished off the land base with Dragonskull Summit and Rootbound Crag I really need to start playing with this deck. I'm starting to like it more an more...
