"People are always fighting in pits."

I know! It seems like, you find a nice pit to hang out in, and some buffoons just have to ruin it by fighting! Even if its a pit you dug out yourself in your backyard, they seem to find it and fight in it. Can't we just have one pit without a bunch of numbskulls coming in and ruining it?!?!

Also look at Ruination Wurm ; it seems to be taking out an Orzhov cathederal or something similar.

Hah, I remember when that MTG webcomic UGMadness had something like the Academy Awards of Magic (called the Garfields) and Death of a Thousand Stings won for 'death by the most stings'. Ever since I laugh whenever I see the card.
So,  One Thousand Lashes anyone? But there's only four cards with 'Thousand' in their names.

Good call on the 'thousand' theme. The fifth card will be Guan Yu's 1,000-Li March .

I love the daily deck, I've seen it before, but I think it's pretty cool how Azusa and Summer Bloom are finally getting some recognition.

It took some time on my part but I think I figured out the Turn 2 kill in today's Titan deck.

Opening hand:

Turn 2: Amulet #2
Selesnya Sanctuary (regular land drop)

Let the sunhome untap trigger #2 resolve and spend the floating mana to activate sunhome targetting  Titan (10/6 trample, vigilance, haste, double strike)
let the last untap trigger resolve
let the bounce trigger resolve
DOME THE OPPONENT FOR 20 DAMAGE!

From Mark Rosewater's Tumblr:

the0uroboros asked: How in the same set can we have a hexproof, unsacrificable(not a word) creature AND a land that makes it uncounterable. How does this lead to interactive play?

I believe I’m able to play my creature and you have to deal with it is much more interactive than you counter my creature.

Wizards... why are you shedding light on Turn 2-win Modern decks? Wouldn't you want to brush them under the rug rather than tell hundreds of thousands of people "HEY, NETDECK THIS!! SEEMS FUN, BUT DON'T TRY TO WIN TURN 2 ;D". First the Weird Mantle deck, now the Amulet Bloom deck... really? That's just stupid.

Query: Is this the first official confirmation Duels 2014 will be a thing? I mean, it's not really a surprise it' happening but I think this is the first time Wizards has officially mentioned it.

EDIT: Interesting. The reference is gone now. Clearly an accident that they mentioned it. Presumably they meant it to be a surprise?

evan, I write this feature, and I'm not employed by Wizards in any way.  It's their job to moderate the format, I'm just here to point out cool things you can do in the formats.  I personally have no particular problem with you trying to win on turn 2.

You are completely missing the point. Most of us pay to play Magic, not the other way around. No one is paying me to write features for them or loaning me decks etc. We can't take whatever deck is poised to do well based on the meta to an event and expect to make money for doing it. Or at least get paid to write about what went wrong.

Modern is an eternal format where we are lead to believe we can build a deck and play it forever. If enough people build a deck that wins on turn 2 and win on turn 2 enough, WOTC will ban it. They proved that with storm. That is the point. If you win on turn 2, you won't be able to play your deck anymore, and you will have to start over while not getting paid if you want to play modern again.
