I'm looking for some help trying to make a Big Red esque deck, I want to pack enough burn/removal to survive the early game and then play bigger creatures and just go over the top with cards like Inferno titan and Thundermaw hellkite.

Something like

4 Grim Lavamancer
4 Frostburn Weird - Weak but I need a 2 drop that can block  tarmogoyf and live at least some of the time, maybe splash white for Wall of Omens
4 Boros Reckoner
4 Solemn Simulacrum
3 Koth of the Hammer
2 Deus of Calamity
2 Thundermaw Hellkite

3 Coldsteel Heart - is  signet better ramp? or something like Everflowing chalice

4 Lightning Bolt
3 Bonfire of the Damned
3 Searing Blaze

24 Lands

The idea behind the deck being to survive long enough to ramp up to bigger threats. I like deus because its a 5 drop and hence easier to cast then inferno titan other options are stuff like Arc-Slogger Demigod of Revenge etc.

Is bonfire to slow I was thinking about running volcanic fallout instead. Fallout is an instant so I can cast it in response to cranial plating and things like that.

The two drop slot is a problem Frostburn weird isn't exactly optimal all the playable red 2 drops are more suited for more aggro play. Kargan Dragonlord could be worth running but not confident with all the spot removal.

I haven't really thought about sideboard yet: Most likely it would be stuff like Blood moon against decks like Jund with all the manlands Molten Rain seems good for Tron. I probably need something to shore up combo match ups, as deck doesn't interact much Rakdos charm seems good against splinter twin.

What are other peoples thoughts could this deck be viable?

Edit: Adding White could be worthwhile it gives access to  wall of omens , Path to exile , and Baneslayer Angel and unlike some other colors doesn't interfere with Boros Reckoner mana.

I ran a Big Red deck back in ZEN-SOM Standard.  The deck looked something like:

4 Kargan Dragonlord
3 Cunning Sparkmage
4 Cyclops Gladiator
4 Koth of the Hammer
2 Chandra Nalaar
3 Inferno Titian

3 Everflowing Chalice
2 Bassilisk Collar
4 Lightning Bolt
3 Tezzeret's Gambit
3 Slagstorm
1 Comet Storm

24 Mountain

The deck tried to control the board with Slagstorm, Sparkmage + Collar and Gladiator while using Chalice and Koth to help ramp into early Titians.  Titan + Collar is pretty much GG for any Aggro deck, and if posses some serious problems for control.  And with Gambit to draw you cards and threaten early Planeswalker Ults, there was always a looming threat of sudden "I Win" situations.  Comet Storm randomly stole games thanks to a timely -2 Koth + proliferated Chalices.

I mucked around with similar list back in the day - the deck was very dependent on basilisk collar, I really want to avoid that in my list.

A lot of those cards are sub par for modern. I'm really not sure Kargan dragonlord cuts it, especially compared to other two drops in format like Goyf and Bob. I really want something in the two drop slot I'm a) Not embarressed to play and b) buys me enough time against the aggro decks to let me get my ramp on hell I've even been testing Azorius Arrester and StingScourger , I like the weird because sometimes they just can't get through him and saves me a tonne of life.
