So the question is: Are you only allowed to name a creature type or are you allowed to name a subtype as well.
Cavern of Souls I know how this works in play, what im really looking for is a detailed explanation and refferance to the MTR.
Example
Snapcaster mage Can I call Wizard (the subtype) or do I have to call Human (the creature type)??

creature types are subtypes
you can name either Human or Wizard,
Snapcaster Mage will be uncounterable with either choice
here is a full list:
205.3m Creatures and tribals share their lists of subtypes; these subtypes are called creature types. Can I call Wizard (the subtype) or do I have to call Human (the creature type)??
You can pick either -- both are creature types. Whichever one you pick, it will make snapcaster mage uncounterable.

The game of Magic recognizes only twelve TYPES:
205.2a The card types are artifact, creature, enchantment, instant, land, phenomenon, plane, planeswalker, scheme, sorcery, tribal, and vanguard.

Right on, you guys quoted the rules I was looking for. Appreciate it.... I am trouble with a friend saying I couldnt call wizard on snappy and augur cause it was thier subtype.... I know hes wrong I just needed the rules quote Appreciate it fella's...
