Im thinkin of building a reanimarion deck using hellcarver demon with entomb and animate dead to get him out on turn 2, then let him do his magic, any one got ideas for this deck, cards etc?
In all seriousness, I think this combo is so specific, if you want to make a re-animation deck you got to have at least a couple of fatties you want to reanimate, drege and discard cards probably some control. I personally would not reanimate Hellcarver Demon since I would be running more spells to set up reanimation instead of powerful creatures and spells which take advatnge of the Demon's abilty.

Essence Scatter wouldn't work for stopping Hellcarver from being reanimated. As for the idea itself I see no reason why you can't do it but it is probably a good idea to have some back up targets to reanimate as well as well as make sure to run some protection like Lightning Greaves . If you just want to use Hellcarver and don't really care how, most people use Hellcarver in a combo deck with stuff like Barren Glory . If you're set on reanimation though I'd at least think about running a couple copies of Doomsday .
Herp, Derp. That was an epic fail. I was just trying to tell him that all his demon decks run big creatures without any protection from counter spells or removal. Please dont think im a total noob.
Not really sure reanimate is the way to go with this guy for a couple reasons. 1) Ok, you get him out on turn 2, he starts swinging turn 3... your opponent still has till turn 6 to draw an answer meanwhile you've got no lands, no other permanents, no cards in hand -- not good. 2) He only costs 6 mana. In black it's just not that hard to get six mana. You've got dark ritual and culling the weak in the toolbox. Also, I really like ebon stronghold with the demon because the drawback on the land is redundant with the demon's. 3) It is a necessity to put in both a package of cards to protect the demon, and a package of bombs to draw into from his ability. There's only so much space in the deck and once you add a reanimation package, I imagine you'll be thinning out the impact spells too much.
I built a deck around him a while back that drew into Sorin's Vengeance and used discard like wrench mind and hypnotic specter to keep answers out of my opponent's hand. I used Blood Speaker to find him. Really fun deck with high risk and high reward.
I would suggest, along with the usual reanimation suspects like Reanimate and Exhume , you run disruption like Snuff out and Duress in large amounts so the demon is constantly attacking their plan with every swing, and they are cheap enough to play early to help protect him. Also, if you want other reanimation targets, give them etb effects like Woodfall Primus (who survives a hellcarver attack o: ) so that when hellcarver pulls them out you get even more value.
Surprised no-one pointed out that Animate Dead is more or less pointless alongside the demon. He connects, you sac all other permanents - including animate dead - which forces you to sac the Demon.
If you're going to play reanimate, there are better targets. If you're running Hellcarver Demon, there are better ways of going about it.
I'm all about super-control in MTG. If you're able to stop my shenanigans, then there aren't enough shenanigans.
