So...question here: what happens first? Does the player take damage, and then deal damage with what's left of his or her life? Or does the player smack the creature first, then take damage and lower his or her life? In effect, by using life as the property to hit with, you're combining power and toughness into one entity and modifying them both at the same time. In programming, we call that a race condition...

Damage happens simultaneously, so they would both use their original value.

Okay, good to know. So it's the same as the player hitting first

I suppose, as long as you don't give the player wither through some complex machination unknown to god himself.

Whoa, mugga! I guess I seen this sorta slop slung around a lot 'round these particulized parts, but that don't mean the bugga's bad, holmes. The card shouldn't introduce new rules, especially because it's not different enough from the following version: "Target creature deals damage equal to its power to its controller, then destroy that creature." Also, the card implies that players are capable of dealing 20 damage to something when the game starts, but they're actually stuck with something like Lightning Bolt ..
