For combo decks, it's basically a colorless Lotus Petal  . The decks that most benefit from this type of effect really won't be affected by the downside, in my opinion.

Lotus Petal has the luxury of giving any color, however. That's a huge difference. And most decks that win turn 1 or turn 2 either don't have colorless cards that need be played or don't use mana at all (dredge).

I'd rather play Simian Spirit Guide  . I mean, it exiles the card and doesn't increase the storm count, but it's more flexible, is a mana ability and it's  rather than .
