Hi there,
Was just playing a 2HG game where my teammate and I had incredibly dominant board position and hands full of value, and our opponents had virtually no board position and limited hands. Basically, unless something drastic happened we were on our way to victory.
One of the opponents decided to then start stop timer-ing at every opportunity, for the full duration, to try and get us to leave due to impatience.
I'm not sure of the exact mechanics of the stop timer, and if it only allows you to stop the timer for X seconds per turn, or per game, or whatever, but is there any way to prevent this kind of abuse? Was quite frustrating to have to wait ~10 minutes to finish up our opponents.
Thanks,
Jax

Unfortunately I don't think there's anything you can do in that situation. It sounds incredibly lame that someone would take the time to do that instead of moving on to the next matchup (how fun could it be to sit there and repeatedly pause the game?), but that level of unsportsmanlike behavior is hard to eliminate.
The solution you proposed might work for this particular situation and I'll pass it on to the design team for them to consider, but like I said - sore losers will always find some way to show their immaturity. I'm sorry you had to run into that.

Sad losers...Just quit the game next time, don't waste your time on them. Not worth it at all. Some people are so butthurt that you get Talrand/any deck(izzet/yeva) combo next game. Just to show you who is the "better" player. Timer is a must I'm afraid, but some "stop only some number of times" would be a good addition.

I never quit in those cases - I beat them at their own game. I have a book by my PS3 just for those occasions.

I have a similar strat. Step outside and smoke a cig while watching the screen thru a window.
Chancellor of the Spires is one of the worst cards in the deck. With only two of them, you are almost never going to get one in your starting hand. If you do get it in your starting hand, it will just sit there. If you get to cast it, it will get burned immediately. - gombl3r CW is NOT how a mono blue deck should work. -Khronikos If anyone in our little group believes in prayer ... we could use all you can give us. Edit: My name is Mark. It wouldn't be right to pray for the devil. -thedevilwuster

I always just exploit them back by bugging the timer to prevent the game from booting me or giving my opponent a free opportunity to win, then I tab out and play another game. I have plenty of other things to do, while they have showcased their obsession to win and so definitely are not going to like being stuck in a game (which means they can't gain anymore wins until they admit defeat).

There is a slight workaround, but it requires you to have an instant in hand. Basically whenever anybody stops the timer, you can "flash" an instant spell and then once you cancel it the timer won't be stopped anymore, it's sad but I've had to use this technique before. Also this might only be on the 360 that this works, as I've never tried this on PC or PS3.

I've just come across another one now, where my opponent just isn't playing - no idea why, either he's genuinely afk or he's trying to get us to concede due to how ridiculously long the game is going to be - and we pretty much can't do anything about it except endure. In addition to only being able to stop the game for X time every turn/game, there should also be a feature where a player who doesn't take an action for X period of time is booted.
The game should not be about who can be the most obnoxious.
