Can lands that tap for more than one mana be balanced? Let's find out.

Lotus Garden
Legendary Land
, Discard a land card: Add two mana of any one color to your mana pool.

Overlaid Terrain
Legendary Land
Overlaid Terrain enters the battlefield tapped.
: Add to your mana pool. Each mana produced this way can't be spent on the same cost as other mana produced this way. When that mana empties from your mana pool, you lose that much life.

These are probably pretty balanced. Although storm probably loves the last one.

My idea for a land (that may be busted) would be the following:

Birthplace of the World
Legendary Land
Pay one life, ; Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.

Well. I did not know about that card. Thanks for the heads up. I guess to make it not busted it'd need to be pay two life or something

True cause it is not Legendary. Would it be more balanced as Legendary or is that not good enough?

your land is not good enough. BUT that being said, it will be played in addition to CoB for redundancy where a format needs it. In terms of design though, it's just not really amazing.

I made a land once which just had the ability "tap, sacrifice this: add two mana of any color to your pool."
