Agreed, Kavu Scout. There aren't enough scary artifacts for the mutation, and Stun costs a bit too much, even for a can trip.

The Mutation was good in triple Invasion, but Planeshift and Apocalypse have far fewer artifacts. I see no reason to go black for the plague.
Kavu scout is completely playable, and boosts our monarch.

Occassionally when catering, I've been put the task of arranging Fruit and Cheese or Grilled Vegetable platters. More than once a high class buffet has started with the mark of Phyrexia upon it. Since i've got a good eye for color so it looks great to people who don't get the "joke" (it's a niceley divided circle after all: the outline gives you 4-6 "regions" to work with), this has actually got me put on platter design more often, resulting in Phyrexia's presence at more private and industry events.

Kavu Scout. Shouldn't be too hard to get 3+ basic land types and then it's a very solid 3-drop. Plague Spitter is kind of a sweeper though, but a rather roundabout one. Better to keep people out of our main colors.
I'm a Rules Advisor now  "Simple questions" usually need rather complex answers, while complex questions often come down to no more than a simple "yes" or "no". Some of my favorite Flavor texts:

I would take the Plague Spitter here. I remember it being really strong, and our third color could easily be black. I think Kavu Scout is just OK, and I would caution against taking lots of mediocre Kavu just because we have a Kavu Monarch.
