Or how about this:

Exile-Hating Card Without A Name
Enchantment
Whenever a permanent would be exiled, you may choose to destroy it instead.
Where do you think you're going?
All cards I make have artists credited in the appropriate places. Artist names in "quotes" are DeviantArt usernames unless otherwise mentioned.

to hose blink, just print something like tainted aether

That is completely overpowered and unfun to play with.

Overpowered how? And unfun is subjective. I mean, this is something wizards printed (and reprinted,) not a card I made up.

I really don't want to see it back in standard. And if it is, I'm sideboarding 5 cards with enchantment destruction.

Wizards do sometimes make mistakes.

at any rate I just thought tainted aether was a good example. Anything with a nasty trigger for creatures entering the battlefield could hose blink decks without being a super narrow hate card. They could also have build-around potential, like blinking your opponent's permanents or something.

Recur is commonly associated with graveyard recursion, and is otherwise a somewhat awkward name for something that is more associated with temporarily disappearing.

Can't we just go classic and call it flicker?
Although you end up with problems as some blink effects have delayed triggers and some are instantaneous, and they are printed somewhat equally.

Differences in previous blink effects is okay. They don't all have to be errata'd. Its like the myriad pre-lifelink cards that say basically the same thing. The only one that says lifelink now is Loxodon Warhammer , because it was printed with lifelink. I do agree that blink or the classic flicker would be a better word. I wish wizards would make more common player expressions into terminology. They did it for dies. They could make mill a keyword for puts cards from library to graveyard. This is another prime example. It simplifies and cleans up cards.

@Esterdi: I think a creature that could stay with 0 toughness would be intriguing... maybe not a card that enables all creatures (unless maybe its temporary) but a single creature. It would sorta be one of those funky cards.

Tainted aether is so not broken. In fact it would be great for a standard ruled by super power creep creatures everywhere.

Flicker seems best name for me. Also, how is it a problem?

Toughy
Creature
~ enters play with 3 +1/+1 counters if you pay .
(This creature has no toughness, references to this creatures toughness are ignored.)
