So are you going for life loss, or poison counters?
If you're going for poison counters, you'll probably want cards which give infect that you can reuse. The two that spring to mind are Glistening Oil
(except this will eventually kill your creature), and Grafted Exoskeleton
. While infect would decrease the amount of damage you have to deal, it will make you require extra cards which may make it not worth it.
If you're going for damage, there's not much thought required - there are plenty of creatures that deal damage in one way or another. In terms of cards like Cunning Sparkmage
and Goblin Sharpshooter
, Basilisk Collar
is their friend (and indeed, on the Sharpshooter more or less means that your opponent can't play non-indestruct/regen/protected creatures without first taking care of either the Shooter or the Collar. Further up on the mana costs you get cards like Warstorm Surge
and Inferno Titan
. Borborygmos Enraged
is pretty powerful, and with his land = Lightning Bolt
ability will probably finish the game if he connects, but at 8 mana doesn't do as good a job of finishing as he should.
Personally, in the past I've found
'pingers' does well, for a few reasons. Trinket Mage
can find the Basilisk Collar
can be enchanted on the pingers to turn them into card draw engines, and Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind
benefits from the Collar to take out two creatures a turn, or the Curiosity to just end the game. Plus you're in blue, so you have some protection from sweepers, which creatures-based decks such as this hate. You can also take cards like Nin, the Pain Artist
(with a Collar she doesn't give card advantage, but she does 'cycle' their creature, and you can self-use her ability to draw mass cards) and Swans of Bryn Argoll
, who just adores pingers, especially Nin.
If you go the infect route, I'd suggest mostly taking infect creatures, and giving them ways to deal damage to the chrome, like Viridian Longbow
, Surestrike Trident
or Livewire Lash
. Actually, I've never seen the Trident before - that seems awfully good on an infect creature with a decent power level, like Phyrexian Hydra
or Phyrexian Vatmother
. On defense the first-strike + infect ensures that they'll have a hard time dealing adequate damage to kill the creature, then at EOT you just unattach the Trident for a huge bunch of poison to the face, ready to re-equip on your turn.
