Is there a window after a creature enters the battlefield to buff (Giant Growth/Simic Charm/Bloodrush Mechanic/etc) in order to allow a creature to Evolve, such as Simic Charming (GG mode) a Snapcaster Mage to Evolve a Fathom Mage that already has 2 +1/+1 counters on it? I guess it comes down to, does Evolve trigger when a creature enters the battlefield, and then checks size, or does it only trigger when a creature enters the battlefield already bigger.

No. Evolve won't even trigger unless the creature entering the battlefield has a higher power or toughness at the moment it enters the battlefield. Pumping its power or toughness after it enters the battlefield won't work.

No. The condition of the intervening "if" ("Whenever [event], if [condition], [effect]") is checked when the ability would trigger and again on resolution. The ability doesn't trigger if the condition is false. There is no chance to respond.

Okay, thanks. I figured it was like that, but I figured it couldn't hurt to double-check.

If in this situation.
Let's say I have a creature 1/1 with evolve and zameck guildmage on the field. Then I pay GU for activate "   This turn, each creature you control enters the battlefield with an additional +1/+1 counter on it". And then I cast a creature 1/1 enter the field , so , it enter with +1/+1 counter. Is the evolve triggered?

Pok_onnet: Yes. The creature enters as a 2/2 and will trigger Evolve.

Why would evolve trigger if it's 2/2 and the only other creature mentioned is also a 2/2?

The post above the one you replied to asked about a 1/1 creature.

For the sake of complete coverage, there is a narrow example where you could actually 'force' an evolve via a buff - when multiple creatures enter the battlefield at the same time.

Say you have a Cloudfin Raptor without any counters on it. You play a Lingering Souls . Both of these have a power greater than the Raptor, so its evolve will trigger twice.

Now, intervening if triggers are checked both when the trigger would go off, and when it goes to resolve. As mentioned above, the "if clause" is satisfied when they would trigger in this case, as both the spirits have a higher power than the Raptor's. The "if" clause is then more or less disregarded until the trigger would resolve.

One spirit trigger will resolve just normally, and make the Raptor a 1/2. However, if the next trigger is then allowed to resolve, it will fail to do anything as the other spirit no longer has a power or toughness greater than the Raptors. However, you can respond to the trigger with a Giant Growth or similar to force it to continue having a higher power/toughness, and thus get the second evolve trigger through.
I'm all about super-control in MTG. If you're able to stop my shenanigans, then there aren't enough shenanigans.

I took it to mean that was the creature he was casting, but yeah, that makes no sense. Nevermind.
