Does this work? Fireburst Elemental -- Creature - Elemental (R) Double strike, trample, haste Fireburst Elemental enters the battlefield with +X/+X until the end of turn. Some elementals can sustain life for extended periods of time. Others spend thiers in a blaze of glory.0 / 0

is this different in a meaningful way from X +1/+1 counters and sac at the end step?

Not really. Is there a reason it can't just be worded like Lightning Serpent ? Edit: Sarnath'd kinda.

Mostly, less words. Secondary, is the face that there is an increasing number of counter manipulation spells/cards that this avoids. Pitiful attempt at rebuttal, sacrifice and destroyed as a state-based action are different.
Mostly, I wanted to avoid using +1/+1 counters, because you'd have to remove them all anyways, using an ability. Simply saying, +X/+X requires less words by an entire sentence.
But that's why I'm asking if it works.

Shouldn't this just be a sorcery that creates an X/X creature token?

I'd like this better as, say, a 2/2.
120.6. Some effects replace card draws.

Fireburst Elemental -- Creature - Elemental (R) Double strike, trample, haste X / X This was the most basic design, but I wasn't sure if this was corrct. I really just want a big damage swing on a creature. With as few words as possible. I can't do the X/X method because of rules. So I had to make it with the +X/+X ability. Though, with this X/X template, what exactly would happen? I have an idea, but if someone could clarify for me, that would be swell. I feel like, while it was on the stack (resolving) it would have a power and toughness, then when it gets to the battlefield it would become a 0/0 and die? Or, (I don't think this is the case) would the fact that I spent the mana carry over and it become a X/X where X is the amount of mana I used to pay for it (minus the ). @razor, why do you like it as a 2/2?
