Act of Treason on my opponent's Firemane Avenger , allowing me to have battalion when swinging that turn. I think you can guess the target of the resulting Lightning Helix .

The amount of attention gained Round 1, game 1 when I got an active Ooze Flux able to crank out 30 power worth of tokens (6 5/5s) every turn. The flux had been sitting, waiting for evolve critters since turn 4, but in the very late game it jsut exploded. My opponent was a very sporting sort, and admirably went down fighting rather than scooping to the swarm... perhaps because if I hadn't noticed I could have milled myself to death with my own Fathom Mage -- thankfully, you MAY draw a card when she gets a counter... I was spending all my mana on ooze anyway. I was still overhearing conversations about that game until after round 3 when the guy with 11 extort creatures in his orzhov deck took over the "Did you hear about..." mutterrings.
"Enjoy your screams, Sarpadia - they will soon be muffled beneath snow and ice." THE COALITION WAR GAME-Phyrexian Praetor Round 1: (4-1-2, 1 kill) Round 2: (16-8-2, 4 kills) Round 3: (18-9-2, 1 kill) Round 4: (22-10-0, 2 kills) Round 5: (56-16-3, 9 kills) Round 6: (8-7-1) [current round] Last Edited by Ralph on blank, 1920

Most amusing moment in my games was my opponent playing his Consuming Aberration when I had no cards in my graveyard. His curses when I pointed out that it just dies were almost worth him winning that match. One of the more impressive matches going on near me was: Player 1: Aurelia, the Warleader Player 2: Removal spell Player 2 : Sepulchural Primordial Bring back Aurelia Player 1 : Removal spell, kill Aurelia again Player 2 : Keymaster Rogue bounce Primordial, play it, Aurelia again, game.

Mortus Strider + Corpse Blockade for blocking. Deathcult Rogue + Midnight Recovery for attacking. And the Golgari think they know about life and death...

I didn't open much in my Gruul box...hardly any usable common creature or spells (not one Mugging, or even a Slaughterhorn.) I did have two Zhur-Taa Swines and one Predator's Rapport in my deck. Late in one hand I had six mana to work with so I bloodrushed one Swine with my second piggy then cast Rapport for a bonus 18 life. Bacon can be good for your health after all...

I've got a casual Bacon deck. Search for green/red Boar creatures, put together a decient curve, add Rancor, the Fight card and Morbid Giant Growth from Innistrad.
Surprisingly effective, and the Morbid trigger can do some very nasty stuff. I added white just for Roc Egg so I can call it Bacon and Eggs. Good times.

I had 12 extort creatures in my Orzhov deck, and six removals, including a Merciless Eviction which turned the game around for me on multiple occasions. I ended up going 3-0-1 (no time at the shop for more than four rounds.) I don't know if people were talking too much about my deck, apart from one of my opponents telling the guy sitting next to me, "He's using extort far more efficiently than I am." I ended up placing 3rd out of 59, thanks to a generous concession from my opponent in the last game with 40 seconds to go. (Don't ask me about Saturday, when I played Simic. I had fun with the deck, but just didn't have the removal I would have liked to have.) Every match I played was a grind-fest, though, since that's what Orzhov does best. It was the most grueling day of magic I've ever played. (Though I didn't play against Gruul :D ) Two matches went down to the wire or overtime, one finished with less than five minutes on the clock. A fun, but exhausting day.

There was a fire. Big one.
Went Orzhov and in my first match get paired against a really agressive Boros deck, gets me down to 15ish on turn 3. Turn 4 I play Alms Beast , turn 5 Gift of Orzhova and he had no answer for it.
I mean literally a house was on fire across the street.
Wow, your prerelease was holding the Juri Revue across the street? Great lengths, my friend! Great lengths!
