I only know second and third place, and we both were boros. Although, he had a firemane, reckoner, and auriela's fury, and i had reckoner, spark trooper, and a couple charms.
That...is shocking luck. I mean, I had spark trooper myself, and 2 charms, but.....a fury and a reckoner?! In sealed?! He was 2nd/3rd place?!
I really rode Bomber Corps , Sunhome Guildmage , and Court Street Denizen , just pumping out white and red haste tokens and tapping down threats. Molten Prmiordial really impressed in a limited format as well. But from what i could see from most players was that the card of the night was Smite . The removal in the set isn't great, but this card just wrecked people, especially Gruul Bloodrush nonsense.
Boros won our event, but the guy had so many bomb rares and Aurelia's fury to boot. However, the best guild in IMHO: Dimir. I didn't even have that good of a sealed deck and I did well and that is with ample land screwage. I felt Orzhov was the weakest actually.
At mine top 4 just went for a draw between all I was simic One was grull One was Orzov had 2 thrulls, ghost councel, and 2 or 3 other good rares for his colors and unsure about the last one
Don't remember exactly how many showed up, but it was quite a few, the prerelease had been sold out since Thursday, or so. However, I do remember who won.
1st - Boros (splashing green, I believe) 2nd - Me, also Boros 3rd - Simic 4th - Gruul
There was a tie, really, between 1st and 2nd and between 3rd and 4th, we actually just went 5 rounds of swiss with no top cut, and both I and the winner went undefeated. This was my deck, I believe.
I played dimir at the prerelease and they did a lot better than I had anticipated, their promo was almost impossible to get off the board once it hit and it basically won the game a lot of the time; as for who won of the 5 guilds? I have no Idea, for some reason I went against 3 separate decks 3 times in a row before I flipped the table and went home, god the extort mechanic is agrivatingly annoying, going against a deck at a prerelease is like playing against a deck that was designed by accountants or anyone that works at the DMV... i'd say is a lot better off then anyone had anticipated...
Orzhov was the top winner in our 30 players. I on the other hand, did not do so well... I had great Orzhov midrange bombs, but not much survivability to get there. Most of my other cards were Gruul.
Played Gruul, I got my box has alot of mid to late game bombs and next to Nothing for early game that would work for Gruul no guildmages [got early game orzhov >.> and like 1 Cloudfin raptor and shamleshark[splashed U] and no boros outside of a 4 drop. Ended up gettting mana screwed on my 3 losses. 2-3 Played against 3 Gruul mirrors. won against 2[2-0 and 2-1] and last to the 3rd due to splash of boros 1-2 , lost against simic R splash 1-2, and lost to Dmir 1-2 I got 3 Skargg Goliath one was in the guildpack, 1 was foiled was in same pack as my Stomping Grounds , and other one was plan, 2 [c]Ruination worm , 1 Borborygmos Enraged and a few others also got Stomping grounds.
Anyways it was a 25-man. Boros and Orzhov sold out. Someone who got boros got alot of money cards[like $60+ worth according to someone who seen his pulls include Aurelia's fury[c] and [c]Domri rade
