One of the most flavourful cards, imho, is Doomed traveler . The name alone is worth a good (if rather sad) story. And the background - it's like the typical beggining of many RPGs, when hero leaves hometown for his first quest.
One of the things I love about Doomed Traveler is that his shadow is posed differently than he is. This hints at the 1/1 spirit token you get when he dies. That's a nice bit of flavor that the artist deliberately put in.
Wow, I'd really never noticed that before. I'm going to have to start paying greater attention to the artwork on these cards.

Is it just me or does Iridescent Angel have one of the most dumb looking artworks in the game?

It does. I select Boros Recruit as the single most awful artwork in the game though.
I LIKE a lot of different stuff from this game for sure. Each pack has at least one I love. The originals and first DLC have the best artwork for the most part. And a lot of them are not even in my deck packs damn it!

I have to say I'm really glad they used the original art for Progenitus instead of the FtV: Legends version. The quality gap between them is brutal.
WotC doesn't care about flavor. Their forum is the only place where an ORC can kill a troll...

Well, there's the Uktabi Orangutan but most people already know about that one.
Chancellor of the Spires is one of the worst cards in the deck. With only two of them, you are almost never going to get one in your starting hand. If you do get it in your starting hand, it will just sit there. If you get to cast it, it will get burned immediately. - gombl3r CW is NOT how a mono blue deck should work. -Khronikos If anyone in our little group believes in prayer ... we could use all you can give us. Glancing through my paper and have found a few cards with some really good artwork and nice abilities. Hope the artwork hasn't changed on these. In case they have all three are originally from Ice Age I love the calm landscape of Reclamation . Looking at it I'm wondering why it isn't in my w/g ramp, fatty, enchantment deck. This card would look very sweet in CM. Spectral Shield has a very pop Andy Warhol look to it. You should have to eat a mushroom before you play it. It looks like Chromatic Armor ate some.
