I recently got into Magic, and have been trying to put together a zombie deck. However, I'm a little stuck on how to make it a bit more.. competative. (I've already gone to one FNM, and got the tar beaten out of me in most of the games, to be quite honest). Additionally, a lot of this stuff is 2012, so has been phased out; I'm looking to find something that'll let me do the same sort of thing, if at all possible.
What I know in this deck that's been phased out is the Diabolic Tutors and the Grave Titan, both of which I'm trying to find a replacement for that does about the same thing. (Though if someone feels they're not doing much for the deck, which is possible, I'm willing to listen)
And, on an unrelated note.. How do I link to cards on the forums as I've seen done in some of the other threads here.
Link cards like [ c ] card name [ / c ] without the spaces. also what doyou want the deck to do? Combo aggro mill midrange? That would help people give you better criticism and suggestions
My plan for the deck is some sort of mid-range control type; Get out lots of zombies/tokens and buff them, with Havengul Runebinder, Diregraf Captain and Endless Ranks of the Dead, using the counterspells and vapor snags/murders to keep my opponent from disrupting it too much.
Yes, we have different approaches: Mine is ultra-low CMC aggro. However, some of the discussion on the B/U zombie archetype may still be of value to you.
Almost every B/x Zombie archetype uses some sort of self-mill/graveyard beefing. Mulch , Faithless Looting , etc. It's part of Zombies. Maybe don't run Skaabs, but having things in your graveyard when running Zombies is never a bad thing.
