I recently got into Magic, and have been trying to put together a zombie deck. However, I'm a little stuck on how to make it a bit more.. competative. (I've already gone to one FNM, and got the tar beaten out of me in most of the games, to be quite honest). Additionally, a lot of this stuff is 2012, so has been phased out; I'm looking to find something that'll let me do the same sort of thing, if at all possible.

Creatures-Total of 22.

Walking corpse x3
Vampire Nighthawk x2
Abattoir Ghoul x3
Havengul Runebinder x1
Grave Titan x1
Diregraf Captain x3
Diregraf Ghoul x2
Scrapskin Drake x1
Butcher Ghoul x4
Stiched Drake x1
Ghoulraiser x1

Planeswalkers-1 (Planning to get a second as soon as I find one)
Liliana of the Dark Realms x1

Instants, Sorceries and Enchantments: 21
Divinations x3
Murder x3
Dead Weight x2
Ghoulcaller's Chant x1
Undying Evil x1
Thought Scour x1
Endless Ranks of the Dead x1
Vapor Snag x2
Moan of the Unhallowed x1
Diabolic Tutor x2
Dissipate x2
Negate x2

Lands-25
Evolving Wilds x4
Swamp x11
Islands x5
Drowned Catacomb x4
Haunted Fengraf x1

What I know in this deck that's been phased out is the Diabolic Tutors and the Grave Titan, both of which I'm trying to find a replacement for that does about the same thing. (Though if someone feels they're not doing much for the deck, which is possible, I'm willing to listen)

And, on an unrelated note.. How do I link to cards on the forums as I've seen done in some of the other threads here.

Link cards like [ c ] card name [ / c ] without the spaces.
also what doyou want the deck to do? Combo aggro mill midrange? That would help people give you better criticism and suggestions

Or use [deck] and [/deck] around the entire deck list for the same effect.

I have a B/U zombie aggro deck here, that is fun and reasonably competitive:

It will need to be updated for Gatecrash, but the thread contains lots of good discussion.

My plan for the deck is some sort of mid-range control type; Get out lots of zombies/tokens and buff them, with Havengul Runebinder, Diregraf Captain and Endless Ranks of the Dead, using the counterspells and vapor snags/murders to keep my opponent from disrupting it too much.

Yes, we have different approaches: Mine is ultra-low CMC aggro. However, some of the discussion on the B/U zombie archetype may still be of value to you.

Throw in 4x Gravecrawler , 4x Deranged Assistant , and some Skaabs. In place of the Tutor, you may consider Diabolic Revelation , although it occupies a more expensive slot. Now that gatecrash is out, you might consider running Psychic Strike .

Skaabs/self mill is generally a very very very bad thing. Don't do it.

Definitely look at Hreth's deck.  It looked pretty solid to me,  much more effective.

Almost every B/x Zombie archetype uses some sort of self-mill/graveyard beefing. Mulch , Faithless Looting , etc. It's part of Zombies.  Maybe don't run Skaabs, but having things in your graveyard when running Zombies is never a bad thing.

I'm a bit iffy on Skaabs, since exiling stuff from my graveyard hurts my Havengul Runebinder .
