Deep down, I feel that these are better served by the dice rolling mechanic from Unglued.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is "never get involved in an thread with GM_Champion" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never go in against AzureShade when card design is on the line!

I was thinking more: Young Vampire    Creature - Vampire  : Roll a six-sided die. On a 5 or 6, target creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn and untap Young Vampire. 2/2 Elder Vampire    Creature - Vampire  : Roll a six-sided die. On a 4, 5, or 6, target creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn and untap Elder Vampire. 3/3
