I searched but I couldn't find anything.
I'm thinking of a situation in which, say, Player A wants Player B to cast a big creature, but suspects that Player B is holding back out of fear that Player A may have a counter in hand. Can player A say "I have no counterspell" and have this statement be backed up by the fact that lying would be a rule violation?
(For example, A may want B to cast his creature to get caught up in the wrath he's going to cast next turn, etc.)

In tounament play, information is split into three categories: Free, Derived, and Private. You must tell the truth about free information, you must not lie about derived information (though you can refrain from answering), and you can say whatever the heck you want about private information. The contents of your hand is private information, so lie away. For more details about what falls into each category, see the Magic Tournament Rules, section 4.1

If player A really wanted to convince B then he could reveal his hand.
