Aaron Forsythe has gone on record as saying that they've considered Lotus Petal for core sets in the last couple of years. It's less impossible than you think.

So...instead of perpetual motion, it's time travel. Cool.
Considering the value of fetchlands, especially Flooded Strand and its cycle from Onslaught, not likely happening. Death Baron is a faint possibility though Cemetery Reaper is currently the core set zombie lord of choice. Festering Goblin would be inferior to Fume Spitter . A Warchief cycle could be interesting, though something tells me the Krosan and Mistform Warchief s would be replaced by more conventional Elf and Merfolk Warchiefs. Carrion Feeder would be a good choice, especially for the current Standard. Unless Wizards decides to start printing multicolored cards and supporting enemy pairs in core sets, Stillmoon Cavalier is not likely.
I think the allied-color fetchlands are due for reprinting eventually. But the synergy between the fetch- and shocklands is probably too much for Standard. Mana-bases would become insanely complicated. I don't think we can expect them until Return to Ravnica has rotated out.
