 this card confuses me does it mean you pay one black or one green? or do you have to pay a black and a green

That symbol means one black OR one green.

And it also counts as being both a black and a green card at the same time. For example, it could not block a creature with Protection from Black but it also could not block a creature with Protection from Green.

There are downsides to being multicolored but usually there is more upside. bloodhall ooze , creakwood liege etc..
