Hey guys, I'm brand new to the board so go easy on me... If it is bad board etiquette to start with this type of post, my apologies. I have been working on building and improving a competitive BR Legacy deck focused around a Burn/Discard damage strategy that is also reasonbaly affordable. This is the deck I have settled on for now, I would love to hear some critiques. Seven Vials4 x Dragonskull Summit 9 x Swamp 5 x Mountain 2 x Reverberate 4 x Lava Spike 4 x Lightning Bolt 4 x Bump In The Night 4 x Hymn To Tourach 4 x Dark Ritual 4 x Liliana's Caress 2 x Distress 2 x Duress 2 x Blight 2 x Blightning 2 x Terminate 4 x Hypnotic Specter 2 x Vampire Bats I still haven't narrowed down a sideboard but some of my ideas include sets of two of Red Elemental Blast , Gloom , Incinerate , and Shatter as well as the completing two cards for any type I used only twice. I would love to hear feedback from others on their opinion of the playability and also the potential competetiveness of this deck. Also suggestions on other cards, distribution of already included cards, or possible sideboard options are welcomed.

Smash to Smithereens is preferable to Shatter. I'd probably stick with strait Burn if I were you, much cheaper to build and Curess, like it's predaseser, Megrim aren't very good cards. Ideally with all that discard you're controling their hand, so by the time you stick one of them, they don't have much to pitch.

Thank You. I meant to add I would actually play either Smash to Smithereens or Shattering Spree , I'm just not sure which, I only listed Shatter to represent that basic idea. As for the Caress, I feel it is much more viable in the legacy format than Megrim due to the cmc and the fact that it stipulates lost life instead of damage. I like it in this deck. If I drop it in the first couple of turns, then all of my discard cards become control and burn cards right from the start. Also I can drop it on turn one via a Dark Ritual and still use a Duress , Bump In The Night , or one drop creature. If I'm able to use the duress in this scenario not only have I gotten to see my oponent's hand right away and likely remove a very useful card, I have also dealt a couple damage.

You're running way too many / cards (mostly ) to only have Dragonskull Summit as your dual land option. I'de suggest getting some Badlands if you have the cash, and, if not, at least look into some Blood Crypts to smooth out your mana base. Vampire Bats , while cute, needs to be something else. Anything else. Preferably Vexing Devil .

Anybody have an opinion on how Deathrite Shaman would fit as the black one drop creature in this deck? Even ignoring any loss of advantages created by the deck not running any , it seems to still be far more superior than almost all one drops in any deck that leans heavily Black. Given that I'm playing a couple Blight which could set me up for a source of potentially needed ;and the fact that I'll be dropping plenty of Instants/Sorceries which I could then turn into cards that burn twice(once when cast and once when exiled by the Shaman)- it appears to me to be a solid fit for the deck.

He's not as good if you can't produce green mana, but he's still one of the one-drop kings of Legacy right now.
