While I'm not a fan of Hexproof by any means, and I guess GoST may be a problem in Modern for some time, I'm not sure this was really necessary. Irritating and annoying card. I'd better not get one in my prerelease; but I suppose there's worse.
Given that Rancor itself was part of a cycle, and we've seen Angelic Destiny since then, I'd say the mechanic it's built on top of is balanceable, just not necessarily that particular instance. Regardless, I think Rancor is a good example of a powerful, but not actually game-breaking 1-drop enchantment. What's the more powerful card...Rancor or Champion of the Parish ? I'd like my Auras to be able to hold their own respectively against the other card types and subtypes.
Also, Totem Armor was another pretty good push for better Auras. There's plenty of design space in giving keywords, ability words, and other mechanics to auras that would help make them less problematic.
You might have a point there. Maybe a new ability like "When this creature leaves the battlefield, return each Aura enchanting it to its owner's hand" or "When this creature leaves the battlefield, attach each Aura enchanting it to another target creature. You don't have to choose the same target for each Aura". You could even get a creature or enchantment that says "If an Aura you control would be put into a graveyard from the battlefield, return it to its owner's hand instead".
Cats land on their feet. Toast lands peanut butter side down. A cat with toast strapped to its back will hover above the ground in a state of quantum indecision.
Okay, here is the clincher. I've been waiting to say this.
The "cam girl" this was inspired by was just a girl from a social networking website, Stickam. Her name was TinyTerror and she was just a regular girl who was on her webcam, totally unrelated to any type of adult content.
I hope you all feel really smart now.
This is like someone coming into class with a bloody nose and everyone's like "Jeez what happened to you" and they're like "I ran into a wall" and everyone laughs at them for being an idiot but then at the end of the class they say "HAHA JUST KIDDING I PUNCHED MYSELF IN THE FACE!!!!!! TALK ABOUT OWNED HAHAHAHAHA"
I really enjoy imagining this from Kevin's perspective. Because in Kevin's world, Rosewater actually reads everything he types. Mark is sitting there right now, reading this, and thinking "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled. . ." Or some such. He chuckles low, then clicks on "The Best Of KEVINSET" and says "Yes, this'll do just fine. A busty lady with banding who deals direct damage to Zones!? Why this will be the star of my next set, and no one will ever believe you Kevin." Then he closes his Macbook, so his servant may move it out of the way, while another servant puts a Fetal Richard Garfield Clone lathered in Steak Sauce in front of him. Then Mark Feasts.
Sorin walked into the chamber where his newly wed bride, Vampy, awaited. A beam of moonlight illuminated his brilliant silver hair as he strode with confidence towards the bed. His shirtless body showcased his powerful abdominal muscles and he was wearing jeans with holes in the knees.
I'm more concerned at the 4 mana guaranteed damage. At least for teleportal you can bounce all their creatures/destroy them/tap them, but this leaves the opponent with no counterplay whatsoever as you go in for the kill. (unless you run druid's deliverance Sure, if you put like 6 mana or something and not on a 1 mana sideboard card... but 4 mana? On an artifact too... this is just overpowered; I don't see why you won't maindeck 2-3 of this to in aggro decks just for the damage guarantee.
I love everything about this card. Everything. And if it only performs half as well as its predecessor, Grafdigger's Cage , it's going to have a bright (heh) future ahead of it.
