I see a lot of people running Forge Devil in the SB. I can only assume this is for dealing with Naya Humans ( since killing off their Champion/Experiment before they can grow it seriously hampers that deck).
I see people mentioning Electrickery as well.
Seems people have forgotten all about Geistflame . It seems like it is better at getting the job done than Forge Devil in almost every way. Geistflame gets rid of those annoying T1 plays just as easily, can be flashed back later to get rid of a second Champion/Experiment, and can even be aimed at your opponents face if all you need is just a little extra reach. You also dont take the 1 damage that you would from Forge Devil , which can be relevant.
The only downside is that you lose out on the 1/1 creature, but in most cases that is just going to be chump fodder anyways.
While it's chump fodder, it's still a 2 for 1 in a way.
First, you kill a mana dork/weenie. Second you get a small chunk of damage in with him as well. So not all the time is he going to become a chumper.
Forge Devil is only a 2 for 1 if you manage to trade it with something. You play it and kill their 1 toughness creature. Then to get the second card you have to be able to trade it with an opponents creature, meaning its only going to be a 2 for 1 if your opponent attacks into it or blocks it with a 1 toughness creature.
Geistflame does the same thing, but doesn't require your opponent to attack/block to get the second card out of them, only that your opponent has a 1 toughness creature in play.
Geistflame also doesn't do damage to you when you play it (like Forge Devil), and the damage it does can be aimed at the face for extra reach on a clogged up board (unlike Forge Devil).
I will admit that Forge Devil has the capacity for a higher damage output, being that it is a creature and can attack every turn and all. That said, being a 1/1 it will basically need an empty board to do so after about turn 2-3. So the majority of the time he will be played, kill a 1 toughness creature, maybe get a point or two of damage in when he can attack freely in the first couple turns, and then be relegated to being a chump blocker for the rest of the game. He is also a worse top-deck than Geistflame the majority of the time.
Oh, and Geistflame does this all at instant speed too, which is another thing Forge Devil cant do.

I don't see Forge Devil or Geistflame as being all that great. Maybe against a humans deck, but that doesn't account for all the others. My meta, at least, has so many variants of Naya, Jund, and various Control color combinations that there often even isn't a 1-toughness creature to hit. On the plus side, Tibalt was actually nice to me last night, discarding mostly lands and extra copies of himself. I think I keep misplaying when to -4 or not, though. Dreadbore (2 main, 2 side) was huge for me. I did wind up playing a land or two more than I otherwise would have to get that black source out, but to take out anything really swung things in my favor. Mizzium Mortars is another option just to have a Flame Slash . Harvest Pyre might even be able to be a thing. I got blown out by it one game last night, although as a control deck the guy was looting a whole lot so he had the yard to do it. But between burn and Tibalt I think we might as well. What do people think about Mugging ?

18 lands screwed me over last night. Got stuck on one land a three games. Got flooded only once. Rarely got the nut draws needed for explosive starts. Maybe it's just the natural variability of the deck....

That might require better mulliganing decisions. It can be tough.

I have been pretty pleased with Geistflame in this recent meta.

yeah, that was post mulligan, all three times. Once mulliganned a 1 land, twice mulliganned no land starters. Took the 1 lander i got on 6 all three times and paid for it. The lands just wouldn't show. I was afraid to go down to 5 and either not get any lands again or not get a 1 drop.

I have been following this thread and sadly it has faultered. I would like to see it continue to grow. Islands, is there anymore Tibalt trickery coming?
