I said it was a tight crunch, you're taking the spots to literally. The first four could tie for first place, and the last 6 could easily tie for second, with a guild or two making up third place. That's the reality of how close I can tell they are in the eyes of the Magic team. But there are certain aspects, if you pay attention to the close details, that will give away who the real favorites are.

Based on my appeal of flavor and general strategy of the guilds... my list is:
1. Orzhov (I love orzhov's flavor over all) 2. Boros (at first I didn't like them but after reading up they're great) 3. Dimir (Cipher is great and I enjoy BU) 4. Izzet (though I like izzet flavor I don't like the game play) 5. Simic (love the concept but green isn't my color) 6. Golgari (again great concept and late game beat down) 7. Rakdos (BR is ALWAYS fun but mot my go to colors) 8. Selesnya (tokens are great but this guild is boring to me) 9. Azorius (I like WU but I see soliloquy much of it) 10. Gruul (never a fan of R/G since I always use WUB)

You can't just look at this single format to come to a conclusive decision. You have to look at everything, including each guild's maximum potential (content outside of the Ravinca blocks). For example, how powerful a Golgari deck can you build when you're open to Spiritmonger // Pernicious Deed // Maelstrom Pulse // Lord of Extinction ?
BG != Golgari.
It would count as Golgari as long as it has a majority of Golgari themed cards.
How are those cards (aside from lord of extinction) Golgari themed AT ALL?
Also, can you please stop pretending that you understand game balance for limited or constructed?
I don't have an egosig because I'd rather my ideas be judged on their merits than on mine. Catpoints: Spoiler:
Show
What are catpoints? A way of measuring how much I love you. How do I get catpoints? 1: participate in my forum games/contests. 2: make awesome posts. 3: destroy Carthage. What can I do with catpoints? You can ask favors of me. I may or may not agree to your favor, depending on how big the favor is and how many catpoints you have. Who has how many catpoints? shadowchu: 100 Islands: 100 Niche: 50 mrindigo: 50 kips: 50 Rstnme: 25 Jman: 25 everyone else: 0 Keeperofmanynames: -100 Morgothra: -100

Just look at the very popular Genesis , would that be considered Golgari? It shouldn't, but it plays into the theme just the same as any of the others I mentioned. Overall potential plays a role in each guild's popularity because it correlates to the sentimental value those colors combinations have built up throughout history. Look at Undermine and Vindicate , or Lightning Helix , Blightning , and Meddling Mage . These would all be apart of a Top-Shelf deck designed around any given guild. It doesn't have to be a "Guild Watermarked" spell to be relative.
