Apart from the design feeling like they sewed a deskfan onto a leather couch (functional yes, but ugly as hell), was there really a reason to have the same creature get both an archetype enhancer and an archetype hoser? I'm not opposed to white getting a narrow form of counterspell (ie. spell taxing, which has some color pie basis), albeit white doesn't really need more tech. However I'm cynically minded when it comes to rares and mythics that seem to be written along a brief like this:

Design an aggressively costed white creature which will fit into the humans aggro archetype.

PS. can you add something so that it is immune to bonfire and hoses sphinx's revelation, otherwise it isn't going to sell packs get played.

I think they probably had bonfire in mind when they made this card.  Remember, Bonfire is likeyl coming back in a big way with Stomping Grounds and Sacred Foundry coming into the format.

yeah, it's a piledriver.  but i can answer your question; if it doesn't enhance an archetype, then it's not going to see play even if it hoses something.  ww/x needs its utility on legs..

To those who say it doesn't make sense, I say sure it does. As soon as I saw the card I understood: the medic sacrifices himself to save the troops from a fireball. What's so hard about that?

This is the worst design I've seen in a long time.

Why not just print "Counter target Sphinx's Revelation" on it. It doesn't even make any sense on this card.

X hate is white now? What's next?

Clever deduction Watson! Maybe you can explain why Supergirl is trying to kill me.

no one has a problem with him sacrificing himself to stop a fireball.  people have a problem with him saccing himself to stop a Diabolic Revelation or a Slime Mold or a Sphinx's Revelation or an Entreat the Angels.  The 'saves people from fireballs' flavor is also harmed by the fact that there are so many balls of fire that don't use X, and therefore he can't stop.

I now want to build a Human-Battalion-Detain Casual deck.    Alpha strike with this in play, then Supreme Verdict .  Battalion should hold down the beatings while Detain manages the field.

I can see Jace using magic to find a spell and the Frontline Medic blow himself up with holy power to burn the spellbook.

It gives White a solid 3/3 creature with no drawbacks. Their own Nessian Courser or Centaur Courser but way better.

First abiity allows for an all out creature attack.

The second ability is White by all means.

White can counter spells Mana Tithe , Chancellor of the Annex , Dawn Charm , Equinox , Illumination , Lapse of Certainty , Order of the Sacred Torch , Presence of the Master , Rebuff the Wicked , Unyaro Griffin , Vigilant Martyr .

White can sacrifice to activate an ability. White can counter specific spells, which in this case is X spells. White can tax spells.
