Don't forget Wolfir Silverheart, which will net you a sweet 9 cards if you pair it with her.
Yet ANOTHER great mana-curve hit.
With Silverheart, pairing Zegana yields 1 (base power) + 8 (power of highest creature) + 4 (soulbond boost) = 13 cards, not 9.
And there is a point at which drawing so many cards becomes detrimental. Of course, that can be amended with singleton Mystic Retrieval  + Psychic Spiral  .
Actually, it draws (In the case of an unbounded silverheart.)
1 (Zegana's Power) + 4 (Wolfir Silverheart (because at the time Zegana's 1st ability triggers, Wolfir is 4/4)) + 4 (Zegana gets soulbonded.) =9
If sliverheart already IS soulbonded (AND I RECCOMEND THIS, Watch reason later!)
1 (Zegana's Power) + 8 (Wolfir Silverheart (Assuming he is the biggest)) =9 as well.
Choose the second option, Zegana prefers to have 8 counters then 4. Because if you remove Silverheart later, Zegana in the 1st case is 5/5, and in the 2nd 9/9. Also Guildmage will find her more delicious

I'm pretty sure that Zegana's trigger will check on resolution and, assuming you pair with Silverheart as soon as Zegana hits the board, read the 8/8 as long as you stack all necessary triggers correctly. So you can get 13 cards--Zegana will be a 5/5 and silverheart an 8/8 by the time Zegana's trigger resolves.
You could be right though, I'm not 100% on this.

FortuneRahl is correct. Zegana's counter-adding ability happens as she enters the battlefield, not as a triggered ability afterward. That means you can't do anything like Soulbonding after she enters the battlefield to alter the number of counters on her.

Simic already had the guildmage PERFECTLY fit undying in Green.
Simic + Golgari = True
You'll get a 13/13 Zegana. With one heck of a set of Goddraws.
Menace + Rancor = 6 power; Zegana enters play and sees a 6 power critter as the biggest one, and would come into play with 6 counters, but Menace will double that, and thus she'll enter play with 12 +1/+1 counters, and you'll draw 13 cards.
