Topic title says it briefly, and I know it will vary from deck to deck as all things in EDH do. But what I'm wanting is opinions. How do important do you think discard outlets are? What kind of cards do you use to discard? Answers like these will (selfishly speaking) help me be a better deck builder. But if I really don't think it's worth talking about, I wouldn't clutter up da forums. TBH, I run a Mimeoplasm deck, and I know discarding can be pretty important at times (the cards I currently use are Fauna Shaman , and three different looters ). Unfortunately, due to the speed of the deck, as well as sometimes being without this and having Consecrated Sphinx and this guy sometimes I can't spell sling enough. I also of course am running a dredge/mill build with cards like these . Cheers!
Decks I run Spoiler:
Show
I currently run a deck for Standard, Modern, Commander and Legacy. For standard, I have a typical, horribly budget Rakdos Deck Wins. For Modern, I have a very lovable mono-green, resistant to removal type of deck. For Legacy, I'm trying too hard to break Pyromancer Ascension . For Commander/EDH, I'm running The Mimeoplasm . A little morals thing about me, I like winning through combos, but not infinitely.
However quiet, I am a Christian, so feel free to tell me you are too, it's always a relief.Cheers!

Survival of the Fittest Tortured Existence Buried Alive Would be my guess. Another fantastic grave engine is Mesmeric Orb Basalt Monolith Hmm, turns out I didn't actually answer the question. I'm not sure that the discard engines are what you want for the most part. I think you need equal parts sac outlet that does something ( Phyrexian Plaguelord , Phyrexian Tower or Fallen Angel ). IF you find a quality discard outlet that advances your board state, then yes. You have good examples in looters, but I personally think that survival is the best at what it does. Short answer, the balanced two for one approach is always the best. Cheers, Malph

It's a troubling situation indeed, finding discard outlets compared to sac outlets.
SotF is obviously excellent, if only I could afford it (the reason I run the Shaman) I keep forgetting about Tortured Existence and how excellent it would be (occasionally, milling Eternal Witness is a problem ya know?)
Buried Alive says at the beginning of your combat step, target player loses the game, It's not an outlet, it's a wincon XD.
I C Wut U did Thar .
Sac outlets are board presence affecters, which mill is terribly strong at, but I try. I'm looking for discard outlets, that is.... Hand manipulation rather than board manipulation.
But thank you Malph.

You are all forgetting why gush got a mid-season ban and that would be Psychatog I run him in Damia, Sage of Stone and hes pretty much a house. Also I used to run a lot of discard engines in that deck and found things like Hermit Druid that dump stuff directley in to the yard to be much more useful. But I run a silly ammount of recur and reanimate in that deck so. But if your still looking for discard outlets small pox hidden horror wistful thinking and Anvil of Bogardan have always been favs of mine
