Can't believe all the hate on this guy. He gonna ruin someones day at prerelease.
People, he is much better then he seems. He comes with 3 benefits.
1. He is a creature, sure he isn't going to do much agains't the 9/9 trampling beast coming your way but he will block that 5/5 without trample for 1 turn if need be. Plus I hope you'd be playing removal and have it handy for that 9/9
2. For a small fee of HP (Remember we're playing it in the colors of extort) you can look at an opponents hand a chose to exile one of those cards.
3. He has extort himself meaning other spells gain you back the life you paid to play this guy's ability.
Sure he isn't a win-con but it isn't nearly as half as bad as some of you people are claiming. In limited cards like this have at least some value.
I don't know what all these people talking about flickering for because this guy wont see play outside of limited other than casual. So so so many better cards @ 5-drop. Plus who plays cloudshift in a tourny deck? I haven't seen one person in competitive magic near me play it or anything other then Resto angel.

Ok.
Here is an exercise.
TRY to figure out how much life you will have gained and your opponent lost from extort in a realistic game of standard by turn 5. Then have your opponent cast thragtusk followed by a next turn restoration angel after attacking.

Huh? I've already exiled which ever one of those I care about, if I care about either one.

In a deck that tries to use extort? How did you do that? (For reference's sake: One was drawn turn 3 and the other found with Tracker's Instincts turn 5.) (Gods I miss my Gitixian Probe Surgical Extraction Snapcaster-discard deck so much right now...)

With the card this thread is about?
I could of even had an Appetite for Brains before casting this too.

He costs five mana, and mana ramp usually goes, from best to worst, green, red/blue, black, white. Playing this guy on t5-6 is, even in limited, a bad play. Nobody plays Duress on t5.
Clever deduction Watson! Maybe you can explain why Supergirl is trying to kill me.
