Don't overextend you say?
Everything Mown does is elegant.

Ominous Eclipse seems far too powerful for a 4CC.
Not that I would complain if it were real, of course. Seems like a nasty inclusion to BWx token decks... they have to discard their creatures, your token producing sorceries/instants remain in-hand.

Not really. It's more color weighted than Day of Judgment and has the built in balance of hitting creatures in both hands.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is "never get involved in an thread with GM_Champion" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never go in against AzureShade when card design is on the line!

Well, for the sake of wanting to play the card, I hope you're correct.

I really hope its not an exact reprint of Culling Sun. It sucks when Guild cards are reprinted, as it means less new, actual cards with the guildmark. I'd like something like: Sorcery Destroy all creatures in play. Each opponent loses 2 life and you gain 2 life.

that card would be WAY undercosted at 4mana it basically reads I win the game on turn 4 for any control deck when it is facing any deck dependant on creatures...
that spell is more likely to be 7 mana or perhaps even 8 regardless of how color intensive it is...

If Ominous Eclipse were real it would certainly make Gideon playable.

8 mana?
That would be incredibly steep.
