I never get why some players can't understand that some people just like to play off the wall decks for fun sometimes. I don't think anyone has any belief that mill will be the next top deck. However it might be fun to play with the Dimir stuff, and that's why a lot of people play. For fun. It gets boring playing nothing but bant control/midrange or B/R Zombie aggro for eternity.

Personally, I'm going to give it a try as a fun alternate deck to play with friends. I don't expect it to replace my main deck, but I do think it will be fun.

Also, semi-related, Esper Control is definitely the most skill intensive deck in the format.

The deck requires some degree of understanding and experience playing Magic, but like the non-Duke, non-Cuneo Bant lists that ride Sphinx's Revelation chains, it's far from "the most skillful." I'd argue that the most difficult deck to play right now is Jund Mid or non-Stroking control.

So, not sure if you realize this, but Sphinx's Revelations isn't that great beyond the first one. Hence, my friend (who's Esper deck I use when I've played Esper) only runs one. So, I'm pretty sure it is listed under your "non-Stroking control." The Bant lists are the ones who can't win without Revelations chains, because the deck lacks a lot of power otherwise.

I'm fairly certain I understand that because half of my playset is rotting in a binder :P Perhaps we could see your friend's list then?

I'll tell you what I remember off the top of my head for now, and try to get you a list if he replies to facebook.

1 Sphinx's Revelations
1 Jace, Memory Adept
2 Tamiyo
2 Sorin, LoI
3 Jace, the New One
4 Lingering Souls
2 Supreme Verdict
1 Terminus
4 Augur of Bolas
3 Azorious Charm
2 Think Twice
2 Dissipate
3 Nephalia Drownyard
Some mixture of Evolving Wilds, basics, and nonbasics.

Again, this is a rough list, so there might be some stuff wrong

I know he also runs some number of Forbidden Alchemy (whenever he talks about standard, at some point he always says "have you CAST Forbidden Alchemy?") which helps bump those numbers, but Augur is in there primarily for the purpose of fighting aggro decks. It may not be a full playset, but I know there's at least 2, and probably 3.

augur is more like a necessary evil.  you need something that can come down early to defend against RDW, rakdos, or other fast aggro decks.

however, 4 might be too many.

Blue is the best color ever.  How do you deal?

Your thread didn't matter much, trust me. If you didn't already have a Jace or 2 already, then you were making a mistake.
