Hi, So I realize the the new rules arent out yet, but I was wondering if people knew the answer to this anyways. If I play a 0/1 evolve, and next play a gather the townsfolk , does my evolve guy become 1/2 or 2/3? Evolve (Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control, if that creature has greater power or toughness than this creature, put a +1/+1 counter on this creature) My understanding is 2 triggers go on the stack and it becomes a 2/3, but I'm not 100% sure.

If the reminder text is an accurate reflection of the actual rule's text, then it will only become a 1/2.
Evolve has an "intervening 'if' clause". This clause gets checked twice, once when the ability triggers and once when it resolves. If the condition is false the first time, it does not trigger. Having passed that check, if the condition is false the second time, the ability has no effect. So the first evolve trigger will resolve, see that the power is greater, and add a +1/+1 counter. The second evolve trigger will resolve, see that the power is not greater, and will do nothing.

www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.a... for abilities and heres a quote to answer the question For example, say an effect puts three 2/2 creatures onto the battlefield while you control Cloudfin Raptor. Each of those creatures has a higher power and/or toughness than the Raptor, so evolve triggers three times. When the first trigger resolves, Cloudfin Raptor gets a +1/+1 counter. When the second trigger resolves, Cloudfin Raptor is a 1/2. The second 2/2 creature token no longer has a greater toughness than Cloudfin Raptor, but its power is still greater, so Cloudfin Raptor gets another +1/+1 counter. When the third trigger resolves, that 2/2 creature token has neither a greater power or toughness than the now-2/3 Cloudfin Raptor, so no +1/+1 counter is added.
