When your EDH general is Exiled, does it return to the commander zone or is it exiled perminately.

When your EDH general is Exiled, does it return to the commander zone or is it exiled perminately.
It can either go to the exile zone or the command zone, owner's choice. Same when the commander goes to the graveyard: the owner can choose to put it in command zone instead.

additionally, if the commander is exiled facedown and at least one player can look at its facedown side, then that player must look at it and if it is a commander he must move it to its owner's command zone

thank you, I have been allowing my friend to Exile my Krenko every game we play because I didn't know if I could send it back to the Gen zone apon Exile.
