Yeah you are probably going to have lots of creature tokens out with a doubling season deck, but not enough to justify this jank in it.
Things that 5E needs to do: -Make the use of battlemaps/miniatures the default. -Make healing fun, magical AND non-magical needs to be an option. Long live the Warlord! -Make magic items feel magic/mythical. I don't want a dagger +1, I want STING.

Limited bomb, woot. Plays nice with token decks but CMC too much to see constructed play.

This card is NOT Flametongue Kavu and as such, I am sad.

Well no, but flametongue only ever targets creatures. You are never going to have this guy sitting in your hand afraid to play him because the only valid target for his ability is himself.
Oh and well flametongue kavu was overpowered and we'll probably never see something on that power level in standard again.

No, you will sit around holding him in your hand waiting to drop him when you have a ton of creatures on the table.
Then your opponent will play Supreme Verdict and you will die a little inside.

A couple of people on Reddit are suggesting that this may be the Boros pre-release card, looking at the image again I'm inclined to agree with them, the formatting and art look about right.
If this does turn out to be the pre-release card then I suspect it could end up giving a few people a headache just due to it's flexibility, I don't know how much use it'll get outside of Sealed though. Maybe when we're drafting Dragon's Maze and can draft this with some Selesnya tokens it might be better.

This card is very powerful in limited. No constructed playability though.
Good in EDH

I can see this having a space in Standard, simply because it's a come into play ability, and thus can be Cloudshift 'd and the like. It is expensive, sure, but if your opponent doesn't deal with it after the original gout of fire (permission to pretend to breath fire over your opponent when you play this guy granted!), then he's got a creature that can swing for considerable damage the turn after - heck, with a certain Illusionist's tools, that could be an 18/4 and a combat trick to win. Very strong in Limited likely, too. Of course, it's not Thragtusk and it doesn't cost a stupidly small amount, so it won't see 'play' EVER in any deck
