The 2 mana in limited is usually going to be miniscule usefulness because you want to drop this guy on turn 2. unless you have a hand full of 2-drops which in limited is rarely good because when your opponent whips out his 5/4 roar-beast you going to cry because you out of tricks and he sitting with 5 cards in hand to your none...
That aside, neat card.
You still attack into it and then Bloodrush a Viashino Shanktail on her to get rid of said roar-beast.
Possible that this has constructed applications, but still doubtful.
In any case, this is sure to be an important roleplayer in limited. If we end up with a format like RTR, he'll be pretty mediocre, since that format was all about 3/3s. However, I have a hunch that this one won't be like that. Orzhov will likely have some big guys to slow down the game, but the other guilds don't seem like they are just dumping out a 3/3 every turn.
In any case, a bear is an important part of your curve. In Gruul, it helps that you can play this and still have mana up for something else to attack with the threat of Bloodrush. Mostly, the Gruul deck just needs to get stuff on the table, and this card helps with that. In Boros, you want as many creatures on the table as early as possible, which also makes this pretty good, though you probably won't be using the mana fixing ability very much. In Simic, chaining multiples could turn your 0/1 flyer into a 2/3 flyer on turn 2, but you also might use it at later parts of the curve to get evolve triggers twice in one turn, which seems solid.
