why are uw/x and uw flash decks running rest in peace  it turns off snapcaster mage, runechanters pike and moorland haunt. i just dont see why they run it. why not tormod's crypt or purify the grave ? just curious. cause im making u/w flash and have 1 R.I.P. so i want to knwo why i should run it in my sideboard. if i run it or think they will side it against me, it might be fun to try out misthollow griffin just for fun.

Purify and Tormod's Crypt are too narrow.  I think the consensus is Grafdigger's Cage is actually the best GY hate for UWR to use being that Human Reanimator is currently the most popular version of reanimator.  You need a card that just slams the door shut on them basically.  Rest in Peace can also be a nice tool to bring in for the mirror assuming your opponent isn't expecting it.

I think the last Gerry Thompson list I saw had 2 Grafdigger's Cage and 1 Rest in Peace in the sb but I could be wrong.

Tormods is okay, but Purify doesn't do enough against Reanimator decks. Rest in Peace hits ALL the graveyard, and it hurts the Reanimator decks a lot more than it hurts the Flash deck.

That said, Grafdigger's Cage is generally better for them.

Rest in Peace is fine against Flash, Grafdiggers Cage is also fine against flash. The deck is impacted by not being able to use its snapcasters fully, but not too heavily.

If you are just playing GW aggro or something like that (IE a deck that never ever uses its Graveyard) then go Rest in Peace, because its hard to go wrong with it.

Misthollow Griffin + RiP is cute, but there isn't really a deck that can abuse it properly.

I have a sideboard plan where I play Geist of Saint Traft and Thundermaw Hellkite , and board out my Pikes. This can really catch other graveyard decks off guard and I can run Rest in Peace no problem.

In many ways, decisions become easier for you once Rest in Peace is in play. You know Thought Scour will always get pointed at your opponent, and you can just get aggressive with your Snapcasters. Of course you need to be able to back up that style of play, which is why I board in the Hellkites.

I'm in the Burrow court on this one. I would have a transformative SB. Take out the pikes and adapt the deck to play more mid-rangey. I think I'd make my board.

Rest in Peace x2
Grafdigger's
Geist x4
Psychic Spiral
Thundermaw x2
Dispel x2
Jace, Memory Adept x2
Supreme Verdict

Something like that.

I have been running U/W Flash on MTGO recently.  The one card I absolutely would not do without in my sideboard is Rest in Peace because reanimator decks are my worst match-ups, and it is a killer in the mirror.  I only run one Pike at most though, and am leaning toward none. Generally, I find that if Pike is good, I'm already ahead since I have accumulated significant instants and sorceries in my graveyard and my opponent lacks removal. Plus, I hate being constrained by worrying about binning with Thought Scour or having my whole strategy undone by one counterspell.  Most often in game one I am trying to stabilize the board and not much is going in my graveyard just to sit.  If I am up against a graveyard heavy deck, I'll side in RIP and side out Think Twice .  If it is midrangey, I'll take the Snapcastesr out and side in bigger creatures ( Drogskol Reaver being the flavor of the week) and a couple of Supreme Verdict .
