As long as its an artifact, creature or enchantment at the time it resolves, then sure, it'll destroy itself. Usually it will be a creature (as that's what it is by default), so usually it will also destroy itself.

of course, you could Unsummon  it in response to the ability
or you could make it indestructible ( Darksteel Plate  )
