Is this real or just a photoshop o something else/ fanmade thing? Also interesting to see that they seem to be targetting this piece of marketing toward girls (or at least that's the impression I get).

It's proably a marketing image for Japan, they do it with DnD too.
It's kinda weird when you first see it, but you know, dat animu is popular there.

You have to admire the seriousness with which Yugioh operates though. Especially the earlier chapters of the manga, back when Yami was truly batshit. Lets look at some highlights
-A bully is exploiting Yugi for roughly $200 (or 2k, I forget). Yami brings twice that, but instead of giving it to him, they play a game where they take turns placing the bills on their hand and stabbing the money, keeping what they stab.
- A sleazy producer is bribing students to beat kids up in order to fabricate a media sensation. They play a game where they each roll a d6, low roll wins and the director wins ties. Yami goes first and rolls a 6. The director is all "I don't even have to roll, I can't lose." Yami insists, the director decides to be an ass and whip the die at Yami's face. Yami blocks with the millenium puzzle, splitting the die and thus causing the director to roll a six and a one, for a total of seven.
-One of Yugi's friends gets on the bad side of some street-toughs. Yami comes to the rescue, but gets in over his head and has to run from them- wait nevermind, he was just laying down a trail of gasoline for a MAZE OF FIRE.
- A convicted murderer escapes and takes Anzu hostage. Yami proposes a game where they can each only move one finger after the game starts. The criminal chooses his index finger in order to pull the trigger of the gun he has pointed at Yami. Yami chooses his thumb. Which he uses to light a lighter that he then places on the criminals gun hand. Oh BTDubs, the table is also soaked with vodka that Yami had been pouring before the game started.
-Kaiba is looking to get back at Yugi, so he invites/coerces Yugi and co to test his new theme park. Attractions include a laser tag game against green berets who are actually firing real lasers (Or something murdery anyway); a haunted house ride, where making a single sound gets you lethally electrocuted; and a featureless room with massive cubes that fall where the goal is to avoid being crushed long enough to climb to the exit.
... Man, I should really acquire all the pre-card game volumes of the manga  .

No need to be so obtuse, maybe he's just trying to complement her. That's not too radical of a concept, I mean she is pretty acute, right?.
This right here should be a bannable offense :p
No, not an outright banning, that's too easy. He should be punished ...

Possibry, I do love me some Monster and Higurashi and Battle Royale. Though I think with Yugioh I really more like how ridonkulously over the top it is. Like Battle Royale has murder and such but it's a pretty subtle series overall. Yugioh conversely is all MAZE OF FIRE :33.

If it is Japanese marketing materials, I didn't see any when I visited Japan this summer. All I saw was the standard posters we have here in 'MURICA, except in Japanese. Of course, I didn't exactly visit every store, but I visited quite a few.
